Surinder Gill (born 20 January 1968) is an English people, English former professional snooker player who competed on the World Snooker Tour, main tour in the 1990s and early 2000s. Career Born in 1968, Gill turned professional in 1991. He first made progress in a ranking event at the 1993 Asian Open, where he beat Craig Harrison, Andy Hicks and Jason Whittaker before losing 4–5 to Ian Graham in the last 96; he also reached the last 128 at the 1993 World Championship, losing 9–10 to Robert Foxall. Crucible Theatre
The Crucible Theatre (often referred to simply as "The Crucible") is a theatre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England which opened in 1971. Although it hosts regular theatrical performances, it is best known for hosting professional snooker's most prestigious tournament, the World Snooker Championship, which has been held annually at the venue since 1977. Its name is a reference to the local steel industry. In May 2022 plans were unveiled to build a new 3,000-seater venue nearby with a bridge connecting the two buildings. Martin Gould
Martin Gould (born 14 September 1981) is an English professional snooker player from Pinner in the London Borough of Harrow. He has appeared in four ranking finals and won one ranking title, the 2016 German Masters. Career Gould began his professional career by playing Challenge Tour in 2000, at the time the second-level professional tour. In 2002, Gould won his first English Amateur Championship, beating Craig Taylor in the final. Gould reached the semi-finals of the 2002 European Championship. Gould enjoyed a good run in the qualification for the 2003 World Snooker Championship, winning 8 matches, beating Alain Robidoux and Stephen Maguire. Adrian Rosa (born 17 January 1971) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1971, Rosa turned professional in 1991. He first progressed beyond the pre-qualifying rounds of any event at the 1991 Grand Prix, where he won six matches - including a 5–0 whitewash over the fading Alex Higgins - before losing 2–5 to Ken Doherty in the last 96. At the 1994 World Championship, he beat four opponents, including Eugene Hughes, to reach the last-64 stage, but lost 6–10 to Gary Ponting. Barry Pinches
Barry Pinches (born 13 July 1970 in Catton, Norwich) is an English professional snooker player, recognisable for his bright and flamboyant waistcoats, which usually feature the yellow and green colours of Norwich City F.C. He is a former top 32 player and ranking-event quarter-finalist. He has compiled over 100 century breaks in his career, becoming the 33rd player to have done so. He has also made one maximum break. Danny Fowler (born 30 July 1956 in Worksop) is an English former professional snooker player. Early life Danny Fowler was born on 30 July 1956 in Worksop. Fowler played snooker recreationally from the age of 15 to 20, but then stopped playing for several years. He then started playing again, and turned professional in 1984 despite a lack of notable amateur championship success. Before becoming a professional player, he worked as a miner and as a local government waste collector. Alex Higgins
Alexander Gordon Higgins (18 March 1949 – 24 July 2010) was a Northern Irish professional snooker player who is remembered as one of the most iconic figures in the game. Nicknamed "Hurricane Higgins" because of his fast play, he was World Champion in 1972 and 1982, and runner-up in 1976 and 1980. He became the first qualifier to win the world title in 1972, a feat only two players have achieved since – Terry Griffiths in 1979 and Shaun Murphy in 2005. He won the UK Championship in 1983 and the Masters in 1978 and 1981, making him one of eleven players to have completed snooker's Triple Crown. He was also World Doubles champion with Jimmy White in 1984, and won the World Cup three times with the All-Ireland team. David Taylor (born 29 July 1943) is an English former professional snooker player. He won the World and English Amateur Championships in 1968, before the success of those wins encouraged him to turn professional. Nick Pearce
Nicholas Pearce, known as Nick Pearce (born 25 January 1967) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Pearce was born in 1967, and first attracted public attention at the age of sixteen when he appeared on ''Junior Pot Black'' in 1983, defeated by fourteen-year-old Stephen Hendry 70–23 in the quarter-finals. Pearce turned professional in 1992, and won nine of his first eleven matches; however, the open nature of the tour at that time was such that these were played in his first two tournaments, and he reached only the last 96 at the 1992 Grand Prix. Nigel Bond
Nigel Bond (born 15 November 1965) is an English former professional snooker player. Bond competed on the main tour from 1989 to 2022, and was ranked within the world's top 16 players between 1992 and 1999, peaking at 5th for the 1996–97 season. He reached the final of the World Championship in 1995, where he lost 9–18 to Stephen Hendry. He won the 1996 British Open, defeating John Higgins 9–8. Having reached three other ranking tournament finals, Bond won the 2011 Snooker Shoot-Out and, in 2012, defeated Tony Chappel to win the World Seniors Championship. He fell off the tour following his loss to Lukas Kleckers in the first qualifying round for the World Championship in 2022, and subsequently announced his retirement.
