Surface of Eceon (or Surface of Eceyon) is an American rock band. Their music has been described as ambient space rock. This unit, which has a penchant for the phantasmagoric, includes members from the psychedelic rock groups, Landing and Yume Bitsu. They released three albums between 2001 and 2007 as well as other recordings. Space Rock
Space rock is a music genre characterized by loose and lengthy song structures centered on instrumental textures that typically produce a hypnotic, otherworldly sound. It may feature distorted and reverberation-laden guitars, minimal drumming, languid vocals, synthesizers and lyrical themes of outer space and science fiction. The genre emerged in late 1960s psychedelia and progressive rock bands such as Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and Gong who explored a "cosmic" sound. Landing (band)
Landing is an American indie rock band from Connecticut, United States. Terms used to describe the music created by Aaron Snow and Adrienne Snow include ambient, shoegaze, slowcore, and space rock. Past members have included Dick Baldwin (guitar, bass) and Peter Baumann (not the same musician who was once a member of Tangerine Dream). The most current line up features Daron Gardner (bass) and John Bent (drums). History Originally named May Landing as a duo, the group changed the name to Landing in 1998 with the additions of Dick Baldwin (guitar, bass), Daron Gardner (bass, drums). Yume Bitsu
Yume Bitsu (meaning "dream beats" in Japanese) was an American post-rock band from Portland, Oregon, active from 1995 and 2002. History Their debut ''Giant Surface Music Falling to Earth Like Jewels From the Sky'' was self-released in 1998 and was re-released by Ba Da Bing Records in 1999. Their self-titled second album and was released in 1999. Their third LP, ''Auspicious Winds'', was released by K Records in 2000. Their fourth and final album ''Golden Vessyl of Sound'' was released in 2002 by K Records. It received a rating of 8.5 out of 10 from music criticism site pitchfork.com. Kinski (band)
Kinski is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. They have released eight albums, a number of split albums and EP. Career They formed in 1998 in a pub, when bartender and drummer Dave Weeks overheard a conversation between two customers, Chris Martin (guitar) and Lucy Atkinson (bassist) about analog recording. Weeks joined the discussion, and they found they also shared mutual musical interests, and hence agreed to form a band. They started playing live the same year. Near the end of 1999, guitarist/keyboardist/flautist Matthew Reid Schwartz was added to the line-up. Kinski issued its first record ''Space Launch for Frenchie'' earlier that same year consisting of six tracks running for 45 minutes. Paik is a post-rock/space rock band, originally from Toledo, United States, currently living in Detroit, Michigan, United States, that includes Rob Smith and Ryan Pritts. Bassist Ali Clegg left the band in 2005, and has since been replaced by San Francisco native Anthony Petrovic (E-Zee-Tiger). Terms used when describing Paik's music include: post-rock, shoegaze, and space rock. Background Formed in 1997, the band is erroneously thought to be named after veteran Korean artist Nam June Paik, but is actually named after an old-fashioned term for a swift punch to the gut.
