Supreme Dicks
Supreme Dicks is an experimental rock group formed in 1984 by Jon Shere and Stuart Morris while students at Hampshire College. The primary band members are Jon Shere, Daniel Oxenberg, Mark Hansen, Steve Shavel, and often Jim Spring. Other members at various times have included Holly Cat, Dan Kapelovitz, Jennifer Stefanisko, John Galvin III, and Dave Taub. Musicians who have joined them onstage include Beck and Ariel Pink. The band has performed with Dinosaur Jr., and toured with Neutral Milk Hotel, Kurt Vile, and Bonnie Prince Billy. Their retrospective box set '' Breathing and Not Breathing'' was released on the Jagjaguwar label October 18, 2011. The band played several shows in 2012, including three at South by Southwest, followed by a short tour with Kurt Vile. They were joined onstage for all of these shows by Holly Cat, known for the 1987 hit "I Wanna Be Like Madonna." Amherst () is a New England town, town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States, in the Connecticut River valley. Neutral Milk Hotel
Neutral Milk Hotel was an American band formed in Ruston, Louisiana, by musician Jeff Mangum. They were active from 1989 to 1998, and again from 2013 to 2015. The band's music featured a deliberately low-quality sound, influenced by indie rock and psychedelic folk. Mangum wrote surreal and opaque lyrics that covered a wide range of topics, including love, spirituality, nostalgia, sex, and loneliness. He and the other band members played a variety of instruments, including non-traditional rock instruments like the singing saw, uilleann pipes, and Digital Horn. Neutral Milk Hotel began as one of Mangum's home recording projects. In 1994, he released the song " Everything Is" on Cher Doll Records. The song's exposure convinced him to record more music under this name. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. Joseph Will Oldham (born January 15, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. From 1993 to 1997, he performed and recorded in collaboration with dozens of other musicians under variations of Palace (Palace, Palace Flophouse, Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music). After briefly publishing music under his own name, in 1998 he adopted Bonnie "Prince" Billy as the name for most of his work. Early life and education Oldham was born on January 15, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky. His mother, Joanne Lei Will Tafel Oldham, was a teacher and artist. His father, Joseph Collins Oldham, was an attorney and photographer. Oldham graduated from the J. Graham Brown School in 1988.
