''Casino Royale'' is a 2006 spy film, the twenty-first in the Eon Productions List of James Bond films, ''James Bond'' series, and the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1953 Casino Royale (novel), novel of the same name. Directed by Martin Campbell from a screenplay by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Neil Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis, it stars Daniel Craig in his first appearance as Bond, alongside Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Judi Dench, and Jeffrey Wright. Martin Campbell
Martin Campbell (born 24 October 1943) is a New Zealand film and television director based in the United Kingdom. He is known for having directed ''The Mask of Zorro'' as well as the James Bond in film, James Bond films ''GoldenEye'' and ''Casino Royale (2006 film), Casino Royale''. He won a British Academy Television Award, BAFTA for his direction of the film adaptation of ''Edge of Darkness (2010 film), Edge of Darkness''. Life and career Born in Hastings, New Zealand, Campbell moved to London, where he began his career as a director of softcore sex comedies and action television series in the 1970s.
