''Super Mario Bros.'' (also known as ''Super Mario Bros.: The Movie'') is a 1993 fantasy adventure film based on Nintendo's video game series of the same name. The first feature-length live-action film based on a video game, it was directed by the husband-and-wife team of Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, written by Parker Bennett, Terry Runté, and Ed Solomon, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Buena Vista Pictures through Hollywood Pictures. It follows brothers Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi (John Leguizamo) in their quest to rescue Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis) from a Dystopia, dystopic parallel universe ruled by the ruthless Bowser, King Koopa (Dennis Hopper). Mark Goldblatt
Mark Goldblatt is an Academy Award nominated American film editor and film director and president emeritus of the American Cinema Editors. Brooklyn born Goldblatt studied at the University of Wisconsin and London Film School, where his instructors included Mike Leigh, Clive Donner and Frank Clarke. Upon his return to the United States, Goldblatt observed Alfred Hitchcock on the set of one of his final films, '' Family Plot,'' and became a PA at Roger Corman's New World Pictures, where he worked with up-and-coming filmmakers including Joe Dante and Ron Howard. Entertainment Film Distributors, Ltd. is a British distributor of independent films in the UK and Ireland for various production companies, founded by Michael L. Green and currently run by his son Nigel Green. Michael L. Green was a veteran producer/distributor involved in the film industry since the 1930s when he was a teenager.
