Super Ballon D’Or
The Super Ballon d'Or (french: Super Ballon d'Or) is the name of a prize that was awarded only once on 24 December 1989, by the French magazine '' France Football'' for the best football player of the previous three decades. It is even more exclusive than the prestigious Ballon d'Or. As of January 2023, this award has only been given once, to Argentine striker Alfredo Di Stéfano. While only European players were considered for the award, Di Stéfano was on the list of nominees because he had acquired Spanish citizenship. He was voted as the winner of the award by fans, a panel of ''France Football'' judges, and former Ballon d'Or winners. For many years, his Super Ballon d'Or trophy was on display at the Real Madrid museum at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, but in 2021, Di Stéfano's children auctioned off his memorabilia. The trophy was among the items sold to an anonymous buyer, and its current location is unknown. ''Diario AS'' has speculated that the award will be given aga ...

The Ballon d'Or (; ) is an annual association football, football award presented by French news magazine ''France Football'' since 1956. Between 2010 and 2015, in an agreement with FIFA, the award was temporarily merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year (founded in 1991) and known as the FIFA Ballon d'Or. That partnership ended in 2016, and the award reverted to the Ballon d'Or, while FIFA also reverted to its own separate annual award The Best FIFA Men's Player. The recipients of the joint FIFA Ballon d'Or are considered as winners by both award organisations. Conceived by sports writers Gabriel Hanot and Jacques Ferran, the Ballon d'Or award honours the male player deemed to have performed the best over the previous year, based on voting by football journalists, from 1956 to 2006. Originally, it was awarded only to players from Europe and widely known as the European Footballer of the Year award. In 1995, the Ballon d'Or was expanded to include all players from any orig ...

The FIFA Ballon d'Or ("Golden Ball") was an annual association football award presented to the world's best men's player from 2010 to 2015. Awarded jointly by FIFA and ''France Football'', the prize was a merger of the FIFA World Player of the Year award and the Ballon d'Or, the two most prestigious individual honours in world football. Unlike the Ballon d'Or awarded by ''France Football'', the FIFA Ballon d'Or, was not awarded based on votes from international journalists, but votes from national team coaches and captains, who selected the players they deemed to have performed the best in the previous calendar year. The six editions of the FIFA Ballon d'Or were dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as part of their ongoing rivalry. Messi, who played for Barcelona, won the inaugural Ballon d'Or in 2010 and went on to win three in a row, after his wins in 2011 and 2012. Ronaldo, who played for Real Madrid, won successive awards in the next two years. The final FIFA Bal ...
