''Super-fire'' is a single and an EP by American post-hardcore band Girls Against Boys, released in 1996 by Touch and Go Records. The title track was the first single from '' House of GVSB'' and it was followed by the second single " Disco Six Six Six". It was released in different configurations, such as a vinyl which only consisted of the title track, a CD which consisted of the title track and the b-side "If Glamour Is Dead", and a CD which consisted of the title track plus "Cash Machine" (also off of ''House of GVSB'') and the non-album tracks "If Glamour Is Dead" and "Viva Roma Star". The music video, featuring the band playing in and destroying a room made up of tungsten light bulbs, was deemed too violent for airplay on MTV at the time of release, forcing the band to re-edit the video. ''House of GVSB'' is the fourth studio album by American post-hardcore band Girls Against Boys, released in 1996 by Touch and Go Records. Recording ''House of GVSB'' was recorded in September 1995 at Water Music studios in Hoboken, New Jersey, United States. Reception ''House of GVSB'' has been generally well received by critics. It is the band's bestselling album, with over 70,000 copies having been sold worldwide by May 1998. Girls Against Boys is a post-hardcore band which formed in Washington, D.C. and subsequently relocated to New York City shortly after their formation in 1989. The band released albums on the labels Adult Swim, Touch and Go Records, Geffen Records, and Jade Tree from 1990 to 2002. The band then sporadically played shows from 2003 until 2009 when they became inactive as a whole. In 2013, Girls Against Boys briefly toured and self-released their first new material in 11 years. After another hiatus in 2017, they reunited for a longer term in 2021. A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. Roland TR-808
The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, commonly known as the 808, is a drum machine manufactured by the Roland Corporation between 1980 and 1983. It was one of the first drum machines to allow users to program rhythms instead of using preset patterns. Unlike its nearest competitor at the time, the more expensive Linn LM-1, the 808 generates sounds using analog synthesis rather than by playing samples (prerecorded sounds). Launched when electronic music had yet to become mainstream, the 808 received mixed reviews for its unrealistic drum sounds and was a commercial failure. After building approximately 12,000 units, Roland discontinued the 808 after its semiconductors became impossible to restock. It was succeeded by the TR-909 in 1983. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Gregory Calbi (born April 3, 1949) is an American mastering engineer at Sterling Sound, New Jersey. Biography Greg Calbi was born on April 3, 1949, in Yonkers, New York, and raised in Bayside, Queens, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows. Calbi earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at Fordham University where he studied with Marshall McLuhan and his staff for 3 of those years. He then earned his master's degree in Political Media Studies (Speech Department) at the University of Massachusetts. During these college years, Calbi drove a NYC cab and sold ladies shoes, and was intent on becoming a documentary filmmaker.
