Supa Dam
Supa Dam is built across Kalinadi (Kannada) or Kali river in state of Karnataka in India and is the highest dam in Karnataka. The dam is situated at GaneshaGudi, which is in Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada district. The dam forms the main storage reservoir to all the power houses in Kalinadi hydro power project of total installed capacity of 1180MW, which includes main Nagzari power house of 810 MW capacity. The power house at the foot of the dam has two 50 MW electricity generators. The electricity generated is supplied to different parts of Karnataka. The dam was built by Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited and is designed, owned and operated by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited. The power house was commissioned in 1985. Joida
Joida is a town located in the Uttar Kannada district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town is the headquarters of the eponymous taluk. Earlier it was known as Supa taluka but as Supa village got submerged due to dam built across river Kali, Joida taluka came into existence. Joida town has a Post office, branch of nationalised banks and a Police station. KPCL maintains the Supa Dam, which straddles the Kali River nearby. Geography Joida is located at . It has an average elevation of 532 metres (1745.4), and is situated in the Western Ghats. Joida is covered by 87% of dense forest. Supa or Supe is a village in Parner taluka in Ahmednagar district of state of Maharashtra, India. Demographics The majority of the population in the village is Hindu. There are also sizeable minorities Muslims, and Christians in the village. In recent decades, there has been the migration of people from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. Hilaria Supa
Hilaria Supa Huamán (born 28 December 1957) is a Peruvian politician, human rights activist, and an active member of several Indigenous women's organizations in Peru and around the world. She was a Congresswoman representing Cusco from 2006-2011, as a member of Ollanta Humala's Partido Nacionalista Peruano party. Early life Hilaria Supa was raised by her grandparents on her mother Helena Huamán's side, who were peasants in a hacienda, or a big farm owned by rich families. During her childhood she saw the (farm owner) mistreat her grandfather and rape the local women, which had a crucial impact on her life. Her grandfather, who fought for farmers' rights, was murdered in 1965. When she was only six years old, she had to travel to Arequipa, where she was forced to work as a maid.
