Suomen Robinson
''Suomen Robinson'' was the Finnish reality television program debuted in 2004. In the spring of 2004 Nelonen purchased the broadcast rights to air their own version of '' Expedition Robinson''. Seeing the success of the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish versions of the show TV4 assumed that their own version would also be a huge success. They were wrong in their assumption and due to competition from shows like ''Big Brother'' after two seasons the show was cancelled due to low ratings. The name alludes to both '' Robinson Crusoe'' and '' The Swiss Family Robinson'', two stories featuring people marooned by shipwrecks. Format The ''Robinson'' format was developed by Planet 24, a United Kingdom TV production company owned by Charlie Parsons and Bob Geldof. Their company Castaway Television Productions retained the rights to the concept when they sold Planet 24 in 1999. Charlie Parsons
Charles Andrew Parsons is a British television producer known as the creator of the ''Survivor (franchise), Survivor'' franchise. He also created ''The Big Breakfast'' and ''The Word (TV series), The Word''. Education Parsons was educated at Tonbridge School, a boarding independent school in Tonbridge in Kent in South East England, and credits the tough boarding school regime he endured there in the early 1970s, which at the time was commonplace, as providing an inspiration for his creation of the series ''Survivor''. He then went to Pembroke College, Oxford, Pembroke College at the University of Oxford, where he studied English literature and afterwards trained as a journalist. Robert Frederick Zenon Geldof (; born 5 October 1951) is an Irish singer-songwriter, and political activist. He rose to prominence in the late 1970s as lead singer of the Rock music in Ireland, Irish rock band the Boomtown Rats, who achieved popularity as part of the punk rock movement. ''Suomen Robinson 2005'' was the second season of the Finnish version of '' Expedition Robinson''—or ''Survivor'', as it is referred to in some countries—and premiered on September 18, 2005, and concluded December 12, 2005. Immediately upon arriving to the island the contestants were forced to compete in two challenges in order to determine who would be eliminated. The two contestants, Elena Sinkevitch and Mari Jalonen, were both sent to a secret island. As a major twist this season, during the pre-merge portion of the game when a contestant was voted out they would move to a secret island where they would compete against two other contestants to remain in the game. Jarmo Mäkinen
Jarmo Mäkinen (born 29 May 1958 in Karstula, Finland) is a Finnish actor. Mäkinen began acting in 1989 on television working consistently throughout the 1990s appearing in several films and TV series mostly notably in ''Vita lögner'' which he starred in 27 episodes in 1999. However, since 2000 he has gradually made more appearances on the big screen and in film he starred in the 2003 film ''Sibelius'' working with Finnish director Timo Koivusalo and actors such as Martti Suosalo, Heikki Nousiainen, Seela Sella, Miina Turunen and Vesa Vierikko. ''Suomen Robinson 2004'', was the first season of the Finnish version of Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries and it premiered on 25 January 2004 and concluded on 2 May 2004. The show adapted many elements from the original Swedish version of the show such as the use of green and yellow for tribe colors, but instead of the typical North and South teams, there were the Sribuat and Sembilang tribes. During the early portion of the program the Sribuat tribe proved to be the stronger of the two as they won four of the six immunity challenges.
