Sunrise
Sunrise (or sunup) is the moment when the upper rim of the Sun appears on the horizon in the morning. The term can also refer to the entire process of the solar disk crossing the horizon and its accompanying atmospheric effects. Terminology Although the Sun appears to "rise" from the horizon, it is actually the ''Earth's'' motion that causes the Sun to appear. The illusion of a moving Sun results from Earth observers being in a rotating reference frame; this apparent motion is so convincing that many cultures had mythologies and religions built around the geocentric model, which prevailed until astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus formulated his heliocentric model in the 16th century. Architect Buckminster Fuller proposed the terms "sunsight" and "sunclipse" to better represent the heliocentric model, though the terms have not entered into common language. Sunrise Historic District
The Sunrise Historic District, also known as the community of Sunrise, Washington, is located at approximately on a ridge overlooking the northeast side of Mount Rainier in Mount Rainier National Park. The district comprises seven individual structures designed in accordance with the principles of the National Park Service Rustic style. The area is inhabited and open to the public only during a brief period in the summer season. Planning The area was originally known as Yakima Park, and became accessible with the construction of a new road in the northeastern portion of the park, planned by Ernest A. Davidson of the National Park Service Landscape Division and the Bureau of Public Roads. ''Sunrise'' is a 1927 Australian silent film co-directed by Raymond Longford, who took over during filming. It was the second film from Australasian Films following their recommencement of production, after ''Painted Daughters''. It is considered a lost film. Plot George Willis loses his unfaithful wife in a rock fall and takes to the bush. He rescues a girl, Hope Stuart, from a flood and nurses her back to health. When he brings her back to her father he discovers that an old enemy, Arthur Greerson, has accused him of murder. Greerson is injured in a mining accident and after George rescues him, Greerson admits he has lied. George returns to his life as a recluse in the mountains, followed by Hope. Janey King (born 1947 in Denbigh, Wales) is a British journalist and romance novelist, writing under the pseudonym of Rosie Thomas. She is the author of 20 novels and ranks among the top 100 authors whose books are borrowed from United Kingdom libraries. She is a two-time winner of the Romantic Novel of the Year award. Grace Livingston Hill (April 16, 1865 – February 23, 1947) was an early 20th-century novelist and wrote both under her real name and the pseudonym Marcia Macdonald. ''Sunrise'' is the sixth and final book in Erin Hunter's '' Warriors: Power of Three'' children's fantasy novel series. HarperCollins published it on 21 April 2009. The plot follows Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze on their quest to find Ashfur's true murderer. It was originally to be titled "Cruel Season", though this was changed because HarperCollins, the series' publisher, felt it was too dark a name. Sunrise Peak
Sunrise Peak is a prominent volcanic mountain summit located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, in Skamania County of Washington state. It is situated in the Cascade Range, northwest of Mount Adams, northeast of Mount St. Helens, and south of Mount Rainier. Its nearest higher neighbor is Burnt Rock, to the southeast, and Jumbo Peak lies to the south-southwest. Precipitation runoff from Sunrise Peak drains into tributaries of the Cowlitz River drainage basin. The Sunrise Trail (#262) and Juniper Ridge Trail (#261, #261A) provide access to this remote peak, with minor scrambling at the summit. The Sunrise Theatre (also known as the Sunrise Building) is a historic theater in Fort Pierce, Florida. It is located at 117 South 2nd Street. History Built in 1923 by builder C.E. Cahow, the Sunrise Theatre was designed in the Mediterranean Revival Style by architect John N. Sherwood. Opening day was August 1, 1923 as a vaudeville house. The theatre earned its reputation for becoming the cultural center of the city of Fort Pierce as well as being the greatest and biggest cultural institution in Florida at the time. At the time it had the largest stage between Jacksonville and Miami. It was designed for plays, movies and variety shows. In 1930 the young A.E. Backus became resident artist for the theater.
