Sunnyvale High School is a 4A high school located in Sunnyvale, Texas (USA). It is part of the Sunnyvale Independent School District located in eastern Dallas County. In 2011, the school was rated " Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency. History Schools in the communities of New Hope, Tripp, Hattersville, and Long Creek merged on February 26, 1953, to form the Town of Sunnyvale. These four towns merged to create Sunnyvale School for students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Students, at this time, attended high school in the Mesquite Independent School District. North Mesquite High School was the designated high school. On May 12, 2007, Sunnyvale ISD residents approved a $25 million bond by a narrow 53% margin for the creation of a high school in Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale Independent School District
The Sunnyvale Independent School District is the school district in Sunnyvale, Texas, United States. The superintendent is Matt Kimball. The district is fairly small and has about 1,200 students. History The district was established on February 26, 1953 after the mergers of the schools of Hattersville, Long Creek, New Hope, and Tripp. Prior to fall 2007, Sunnyvale did not operate a high school; Sunnyvale's students were zoned to Mesquite ISD, attending North Mesquite High School. Although the entire district was located in one building, construction began on a new high school for students in grades 5-8. Construction had been completed for the 2006–2007 school year. The residents of SISD approved a bond to build a high school. Sunnyvale High School was housed at the middle school campus prior to its campus's opening in the fall of 2009. Sunnyvale is a rural, sparsely populated, and very affluent town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. It is the easternmost city completely within Dallas County. The population was 7,893 in 2020. History The town now called Sunnyvale was inhabited by various Native American tribes in the years before the European conquest of the Americas. It came under the rule of Spain in the 18th century, very close to the boundary of Spanish and French territory (although this boundary was carried upward a bit in 1819; see Adams-Onís Treaty). During this time, the area was relatively underdeveloped. However, some settlers migrated to Texas and would eventually settle in Sunnyvale. The Mesquite Independent School District is a school district in Mesquite, Texas (USA) (incorporating most of Mesquite and portions of Balch Springs, Dallas, Garland, and Seagoville, as well as formerly serving all high school students of Sunnyvale) which follows the standard definition of an independent school district. North Mesquite High School
North Mesquite High School is a secondary school in Mesquite, Texas and a part of the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD). As of 2022, the school serves northern portions of Mesquite and the MISD portion of Garland. Formerly, North Mesquite served all of Sunnyvale, before the completion of Sunnyvale High School, leaving the class of 2010 the last North Mesquite class catering to Sunnyvale students. North Mesquite serves grades 9 through 12. The total enrollment in 2002 was 2450; the school is therefore under the UIL AAAAAA (or 6A) division.
