Sunne Municipality ( sv, Sunne kommun) is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Sunne. The present municipality was created in 1971 when the market town (''köping'') Sunne (instituted in 1920) was amalgamated with Gräsmark and Lysvik. Kil Municipality
Kil Municipality (''Kils kommun'') is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Kil, Värmland, Kil. The local government reform of 1971 amalgamation (politics), amalgamated Stora Kil, Järnskog and a part of Brunskog, thus forming Kil Municipality. Kil means wedge (mechanical device), wedge, crack or similar in Swedish language, Swedish, in this case referring to a bay (old Swedish). The name is at least from the fifteenth century, referring to a bay by the small lake Hyn, where the church was constructed. The town later became the seat of the juridical Kil Hundred, which is known to have existed in 1426. The wedge is noted in the coat of arms. Forshaga Municipality
Forshaga Municipality (''Forshaga kommun'') is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Forshaga. The first municipality named Forshaga was a market town (''köping'') which was detached from Grava in 1944. The local government reform of the 1970s made Forshaga a unitary municipality in 1971 and in 1974 Ullerud was added to it. Forshaga was known in the 14th century as a location for salmon fishing in the river Klarälven. Salmon was used both locally and transported to monasteries in southern Sweden. Forshaga is still known for its rich fishing waters, which attract hobby sport fishers from all over the country. Munkfors Municipality
Munkfors Municipality (''Munkfors kommun'') is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Munkfors. In 1952 the rural municipality Ransäter got the title of a market town (''köping'') and the name Munkfors after its only built-up locality. With the local government reform of 1971 it became a municipality of unitary type without addition of territory. The municipality is today the 9th smallest by population in Sweden. In Ransäter lies the Geijer School, in honour of author Erik Gustaf Geijer (1783-1843), who was born at the Ransäter farm. Torsby Municipality (''Torsby kommun'') is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden, bordering Norway. Its seat is located in the town of Torsby. The name ''Torsby'' means Thor's village. The present municipality consists of eight original local government entities (as of 1863): Dalby, Fryksände, Lekvattnet, Norra Finnskoga, Norra Ny, Nyskoga, Södra Finnskoga, Vitsand and Östmark. Karlstad (, ) is the 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. Mårbacka
Mårbacka is a manor house in Sunne Municipality in Värmland, Sweden. The first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, Selma Lagerlöf, was born and raised at Mårbacka. Today, the manor building and the surrounding area is kept as a memorial museum honoring the latter's literary career.
