Sunil Soma Peiris
Pattiyage Sunil Soma Peiris (Pattiyage Sunil Soma Peiris, 13 April 1948 – 10 December 2021) ( si, සුනිල් සෝම පීරිස්) was a Sri Lankan screenwriter, actor, editor and filmmaker in Sri Lankan cinema. He was a prolific director who directed the most number of films in Sri Lankan cinema with forty five commercial films in various genres. Personal life He was born on 13 April 1948 in Maharagama, Ceylon, as the second child of the family with eight siblings. His father Salaman Peiris, was a businessman and mother was a housewife. He completed education from Buwanekaba Maha Vidyalaya, Maharagama. His school contemporaries are Nuwan Gunawardena, Amarasiri Peiris and Kandupola Kumaratunga. In 1971, he married his longtime partner, Malani Ayesha Perera. The couple has two sons: Rohana Prema Kumara, Sudesh Wasantha and one daughter, Vasanthika Piyanga Kumuduni. Maharagama
Maharagama is an outer suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka on the High-Level (A4) Road about from the centre of the commercial capital. It developed rapidly in the 1980s as a dormitory suburb. ''Thushara'' ( si, තුෂාරා, italic=yes) is a 1973 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic film directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara and produced by Mohamed Omar Kareem Hassan. It stars Vijaya Kumaratunga and Malini Fonseka in lead roles along with Joe Abeywickrama and Sonia Disa. Music composed by P. L. A. Somapala. The remake of the film was screened in 2009 with the same title, where Saliya Sathyajith and Shalika Edirisinghe played the lead roles of 'Sampath' and 'Thushara' respectively.
