Sung-Kil Moon
Moon Sung-kil (, born July 20, 1963) is a Korean former professional boxer who competed from 1987 to 1993. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA bantamweight title from August 1988 to July 1989 and the WBC super-flyweight title between January 1990 and November 1993. His name is also rendered Sung Kil Moon. Amateur career Moon, who compiled a purported record of 219–22 (164 KO) during his amateur career, was known as a great knockout puncher of the lighter divisions. In 1982, he won the bantamweight gold medal at the Asian Games in New Delhi, knocking out Wanchai Pongsri of Thailand with one blow in the final. In the 1984 Summer Olympics, Moon was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Pedro Nolasco via RSC in the first round due to a cut on his head after an accidental head butt. Super-flyweight
Super flyweight, also referred to as junior bantamweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . History The first title match in this division was in 1980, when the World Boxing Council responded to pressure from Asian and Latin American members who felt the difference between the flyweight limit and the bantamweight limit was too significant. Rafael Orono won the inaugural title in February of that year by defeating Seung-Hoon Lee. The World Boxing Association followed suit in 1981 when Gustavo Ballas won the vacant title by knocking out Sok-Chul Baek. Kaokor Galaxy, also written as Khaokor Galaxy (Thai language, Thai: เขาค้อ แกแล็คซี่, born, May 15, 1959) is a Thai former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 1989. He held the World Boxing Association, WBA bantamweight title twice between 1988 and 1989. Khaokor and his twin brother Khaosai Galaxy became the first twins to win a boxing world title. Ljubiša Simić ( sr-cyr, Љубиша Симић; born 27 February 1963 in Smederevo, SR Serbia, then Yugoslavia) is a former boxer from Yugoslavia, who competed in two Summer Olympics for his native country: in 1984 and in 1988. Robert Shannon
Robert Edward Shannon (born November 11, 1962) is an American former professional boxer. Background Shannon, who had a white mother and black father, started fighting in the streets as a young boy in Seattle's predominantly black Central District where he found kids who would start fights with him because he was white. He later moved to Lynnwood, Washington, where he continued to get into fights, this time with white kids who fought him because he was black. Amateur career After beating up one kid, he was invited to a gym where he began boxing at the age of 12. He would capture a national junior championship at 15 and a world junior championship at the age of 16. Arnaldo Mesa Bonell (6 December 1967 – 17 December 2012) was an amateur boxer from Cuba, who won the silver medal for his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. In the final of the Bantamweight (– 54 kg) division he was defeated by Hungary's István Kovács. A year earlier, at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, he captured the gold medal in his division. Aleksandar Khristov ( bg, Александър Христов) (born 28 July 1964) is a retired boxer from Bulgaria, who became world champion and represented his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. There he won the silver medal in the bantamweight (51 – 54 kg) division. He also won three medals in the European Amateur Boxing Championships, including gold at the 1987 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Turin, Italy. Paul Banke
Paul Andre Banke (born March 1, 1964, in Blythe, California) is a former World Boxing Council Super Bantamweight champion boxer, and is the first American boxer to go public with an AIDS diagnosis. Having lived 29 years after being diagnosed with AIDS, Banke, who accepted medical treatment, is the longest living professional boxer with the disease. Career Banke turned pro in 1985. After losing a 12-round split decision to Daniel Zaragoza in June 1989, Banke captured the WBC Super Bantamweight Title in April 1990 with an upset ninth-round TKO victory over Daniel Zaragoza.
