Sunday Standard
''The Sunday Standard'' was an English-language weekly newspaper in Sri Lanka published by Standard Newspapers (Private) Limited, part of Communication and Business Equipment (Private) Limited (CBE). It was founded in 2006 and published from Colombo. Its sister newspaper was ''Mawbima''. ''The Sunday Standard'' and ''Mawbima'' were launched in August 2006.''The Sunday Standard'' was a successor to ''The Weekend Standard'' which had been launched by businessman Tiran Alles in August 2005 to help the presidential campaign of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Tiran Alles
Tiran Alles, MP is a Sri Lankan businessman and politician. He is a current member of Parliament of Sri Lanka and the Minister of Public Security. Alles had entered politics as an ally of former General Sarath Fonseka and a member of parliament for Fonseka's Democratic National Alliance in 2010. Leaving parliament in 2015, he returned as a member of Mahinda Rajapaksa's Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and the leader of the United People's Party in 2020 and became a minister in 2022. Mahinda Rajapaksa

Basil Rajapaksa (born 27 April 1951) is a Sri Lankan-American politician. He is a former Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for the national list.
