Sunday Edition (Canadian TV Program)
''Sunday Edition'' is a Canadian public affairs television program which aired from 1988 to 1999. The program was hosted by Mike Duffy and originated at CJOH-TV in Ottawa, Ontario. Over the course of its run, it aired in several different time slots from late Sunday morning to early Sunday afternoons. Its format was similar to that of American Sunday morning talk shows. The program was at first co-operatively produced by several CTV affiliates, but at that point was not officially a CTV network program. ''Sunday Edition'' later became part of the Baton Broadcast System schedule and only officially became a CTV program in early 1998, shortly after Baton Broadcasting's acquisition of the network. At the same time, production moved to CTV's flagship studios at CFTO-TV in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough. Mike Duffy
Michael Dennis Duffy (born May 27, 1946) is a former Canadian senator and former Canadian television journalist. Prior to his appointment to the upper house in 2008, he was the Ottawa editor for CTV News Channel. In turning 75 on May 27, 2021, Duffy retired from the senate due to mandatory retirement rules. Early life Mike Duffy was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to Lillian and Wilfrid Duffy. He is the grandson of Charles Gavan Duffy, a PEI Liberal MLA and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. Duffy studied humanities at St. Dunstan's College. Journalism career Duffy became a ham radio operator at the age of 16 and began his career as a teen disc jockey at CFCY-TV. He moved to print journalism with ''The Guardian'' in Charlottetown. ''Question Period'' (sometimes abbreviated ''QP'') is a Canadian television newsmagazine which airs weekly, currently excluding the summer months, on CTV Sundays at 11:00 AM ET/8:00 AM PT. It also airs on the CTV News Channel at 5:00 PM ET. The program, which takes its name from the parliamentary process of Question Period, is an interview and panel discussion program on Canadian politics, similar to an American Sunday morning talk show. The Daily Gleaner
''The Daily Gleaner'' is a morning daily newspaper serving the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and the upper Saint John River Valley. The paper is published Monday through Saturday and began operating in 1880. In April 2006, the paper switched from afternoon to morning publication. The offices of the ''Daily Gleaner'' are located on Alison Boulevard on the city's south side. The ''Gleaner'', as it is called locally, is part of Brunswick News Inc. K.C. Irving bought it in 1968 from Michael Wardell, who had owned it since 1950. The paper has its roots in the earlier paper ''The Gleaner and Northumberland Schediasma'', started in 1829.
