Sunday Best is a reality television series on BET. Kirk Franklin, BeBe Winans and Tina and Erica Campbell of Mary Mary returned as Host and judges, respectively. For Season Two, episode tapings were moved from Los Angeles, CA, to Atlanta, GA. During the finale on May 11, 2009, Y'Anna Crawley was announced as Season 2's winner while Jessica Reedy was determined to be the runner up . Kirk Franklin
Kirk Dewayne Franklin (born January 26, 1970) is an American songwriter, choir director, gospel singer, and rapper. He is best known for leading urban contemporary gospel ensembles such as The Family, God's Property, and One Nation Crew (1NC) among many others. He has won numerous awards, including 16 Grammy Awards. ''Variety'' dubbed Franklin as a "Reigning King of Urban Gospel", and is one of the inaugural inductees into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame. Early life A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Franklin was raised by his aunt, Gertrude, having been abandoned as a baby by his mother. Gertrude recycled aluminum cans to raise money for Kirk to take piano lessons from the age of four. Kirk excelled and was able to read and write music while also playing by ear. At the age of seven, Franklin received his first contract which his aunt turned down. He did join the church choir and became music director of the Mt. Bebe Winans
Benjamin "BeBe" Winans (born September 17, 1962) is an American gospel and R&B singer. He is a member of the noted Winans family, most members of which are also gospel artists. Winans has released nine albums, seven with his sister CeCe Winans, CeCe as BeBe & CeCe Winans and one with three Winans brothers. ''The PTL Club'' Winans released several albums, first with his sister CeCe Winans, CeCe, and later as a solo (music), solo recording artist, artist. Jim Bakker's television show ''The PTL Club'' took interest in BeBe and his sister CeCe as background vocalists for the show. After going to North Carolina to audition they were accepted. The siblings moved to the PTL campus in North Carolina, and were on the show for about five years. Mary Mary is a female American urban contemporary gospel duo composed of sisters Erica Atkins-Campbell (born April 29, 1972) and Trecina Atkins-Campbell (born May 1, 1974). Formed in 1998, Mary Mary was launched into mainstream recognition following the release of their best-selling debut album, '' Thankful'' (2000), which contained the hit single "Shackles (Praise You)". Their followup album ''Incredible'' (2002), reached number one on the Top Gospel Albums chart. Sunday Best (American TV Series)
''Sunday Best'' is a reality television singing competition series hosted by Kirk Franklin. It first aired on BET in October 2007. In each season, the show and its judges set out to find the best undiscovered gospel talent in America. Finalists competed each week until a winner was crowned. The judges throughout the series' run included Gospel singers Yolanda Adams, Kierra Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, Bebe Winans & Cece Winans. Gospel singer Kim Burrell served as the on-screen mentor. Each season's winner receives a national recording contract, a new automobile, and an undisclosed cash prize benefiting his or her community as well as the title of 'Sunday Best'. On April 18, 2019, it was announced that the series will return for a ninth season, which premiered on June 30, 2019.
