Sundancer
''Sundancer'' was the proposed third prototype space habitat intended to be launched by Bigelow Aerospace—and the first human-rated expandable module based on TransHab technology acquired from NASA. It was to have been used to test and confirm systems used in the company's commercial space station efforts during the early 2010s, and if successful, would have formed the first piece of the proposed commercial space station. While ''Sundancer'' had been under construction at the Bigelow plant in North Las Vegas, Nevada, the company announced in July 2011 that ''Sundancer'' had been removed from their station evolution path, and that the B330 would become the first production module. Spacecraft history and future Upon its original announcement, ''Sundancer'' was intended to be the fourth module orbited by Bigelow Aerospace. In August 2007, however, it was announced that due to rising space launch costs and the level of success of the first two Bigelow modules launched, the third d ...

Sun Dance
The Sun Dance is a ceremony practiced by some Native Americans in the United States and Indigenous peoples in Canada, primarily those of the Plains cultures. It usually involves the community gathering together to pray for healing. Individuals make personal sacrifices on behalf of the community. After European colonization of the Americas, and with the formation of the Canadian and United States governments, both countries passed laws intended to suppress Indigenous cultures and force assimilation to majority-European culture. The Sun Dance was one of the prohibited ceremonies, as was the potlatch of the Pacific Northwest peoples.Powell, Jay; & Jensen, Vickie. (1976). ''Quileute: An Introduction to the Indians of La Push.'' Seattle: University of Washington Press. (Cited in Bright 1984). Canada lifted its prohibition against the practice of the full ceremony in 1951. In the United States, Congress passed the American Indian Religious Freedom Act (AIRFA) in 1978, which was ena ...

Verilite Sunbird
__NOTOC__ The Verilite Model 100 Sunbird was a low-cost light aircraft developed in the United States in the 1980s.Taylor 1989, p. 947''Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1987–88'', p. 529Wrixon 1987, p. 28 It was developed by De Vore Aviation, a company that manufactures aircraft components, as a first foray into aircraft manufacturing. When initiated in 1983, the goal of the project was to create a two-seat light aircraft that could be sold for less than $US 20,000. Additionally, it was hoped that the Sunbird operating costs would be half that of a conventional two-seat aircraft."De Vore aims for spin-proof Sunbird" 1986, p. 18 Funding for the project became available in 1985, and the Verilite subsidiary was created to develop the concept. The design was unconventional: a high-wing, strut-braced monoplane with the single engine fitted in pusher configuration at the rear of the wing, and the empennage carried on an aluminum boom. The pilot and a single passenger sat side by side i ...
