Summit Lake (Chugach National Forest, Alaska)
Summit Lake (or Upper Summit Lake) is located on Canyon Creek in the Chugach National Forest, Alaska, United States and is situated along the Seward Highway ( AK-1) north-northeast of Moose Pass and about southwest of the Portage area of Anchorage. The lake is fed by Canyon Creek from the southwest and Tenderfoot Creek from the east. The lake empties into Canyon Creek on the northeast, which flows through Lower Summit Lake, into Six Mile Creek, and eventually into the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. (However, the lake is not connected with the nearby Summit Creek, which runs about from the southwest shore of Summit Lake and whose waters flow southwest from the far side of the summit toward Kenai Lake and Skilak Lake before reaching the Cook Inlet.) Summit Lake is located above the tree line on the south slope of the Alaska Range between miles 192 and 196 of the Richardson Highway (AR-4). It is about north of Valdez, south of Fairbanks, and just south of Isabel Pass at an elevation of . It is also situated within the northeast corner of the census-designated place of Paxson, about upstream (north) of Paxson Lake. It is glacier-fed by several creeks to the north, including Gunn Creek (which flows from the Gulkana Glacier). There are also additional creeks that feed into the lake from the west and southeast. Summit Lake is a very small tarn (cirque lake) located above the tree line within the Hatcher Pass of the Talkeetna Mountains in Willow, Alaska, United States. Description The lake is located about southwest of the summit of Hatcher Pass, about southwest of the Independence Mine State Historic Park, and about northwest of Hatch Peak. Chigmit Mountains
The Chigmit Mountains are a subrange of the Aleutian Range in the Kenai Peninsula and Lake and Peninsula Boroughs of the U.S. state of Alaska. Location They are located at the northeastern end of the Aleutian range, on the west side of Cook Inlet, roughly 120 miles (200 km) southwest of Anchorage. The closest major towns to the range are Kenai and Homer, across Cook Inlet on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula. To the north, the Chigmits are bordered by the Tordrillo Mountains, and on the northwest, by the Neacola Mountains. Tlikakila River
The Tlikakila River ( Dena'ina Athabascan Łiq'a Qilanhtnu, literally "salmon-are-there river") is a stream, long, in the U.S. state of Alaska. The river, lying entirely within Lake Clark National Park, flows southwest from Summit Lake in the Chigmit Mountains of the Aleutian Range to Lake Clark. The Tlikakila is one of three national "wild rivers" in Lake Clark National Park. The other two are the Mulchatna and the Chilikadrotna, all added in 1980 to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
