Sodom (band)
Sodom is a German thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1981. They have gone through many lineup changes, leaving bassist/vocalist Tom Angelripper as the only constant member. The band is currently composed of Angelripper, guitarists Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik (who was a member of Sodom from 1987 to 1989 and rejoined in 2018) and Yorck Segatz, and drummer Toni Merkel. Along with Kreator, Destruction and Tankard, Sodom has been referred to as one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. While three of those bands (except Tankard) created a sound that would influence the death metal and black metal genres, Sodom's early music style would greatly influence many late 1980s and early 1990s black metal bands more than others. Sodom has released seventeen studio albums, three live albums, two compilation albums and seven EPs. They achieved their first commercial success with their fourth studio album ''Agent Orange'' (1989), which was one of the first thrash metal albums ...

To date, the band has released eight studio albums, a single, six EPs, one live album and a DVD. Most of Leaves' Eyes' lyrics, written by Liv Kristine until her departure in 2016, concern Norse mythology and the Viking Age. The melodic singing vocals of Liv Kristine and her replacement Elina Siirala are occasionally backed up by death growled vocals from Krull, identified under the vocal style Kristine refers to as "beauty and the beast". History ''Lovelorn'' (2003–2005) Leaves' Eyes have often featured naturalistic themes in their music since the release of their 2004 debut album, '' Lovelorn''. Katatonia
Katatonia are a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström. The band started as a studio-only project for the duo, as an outlet for the band's love of death metal. Increasing popularity led them to add more band members for live performances, though outside of the band's founders, the lineup was a constantly changing, revolving door of musicians throughout the 1990s, notably including Mikael Åkerfeldt of the band Opeth for a period. After two death/doom albums, ''Dance of December Souls'' (1993) and ''Brave Murder Day'' (1996), problems with Renkse's vocal cords coupled with new musical influences led the band away from the screamed vocals of death metal to a more traditional, melodic form of heavy metal music. The band released two more albums, ''Discouraged Ones'' (1998) and ''Tonight's Decision'' (1999), before settling into a stable quintet lineup for all of the 2000s. The band released four more albums with said lineup: ''L ...

Green Carnation
Green Carnation is a Norwegian progressive metal band from Kristiansand, formed in 1990. Green Carnation's trend of music has continuously changed on every release one by one; from straight forward death metal in their demo, to death-doom, then a progressive doom metal sound, to an atmospheric gothic metal sound, to a melancholic hard rock sound and in 2006, went as far as to releasing an entirely acoustic album '' Acoustic Verses''. The band released its first album in 14 years titled '' Leaves of Yesteryear'' on May 8, 2020, which marked a return to their earlier gothic progressive metal roots. A new single was composed, arranged, rehearsed and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, called "The World Without a View", and released digitally on December 18th 2020. Evergrey
Evergrey is a Swedish progressive metal band from Gothenburg. History Evergrey was formed in 1995 in Gothenburg, Sweden as a progressive power metal band, in contrast to the melodic death metal that Gothenburg is known for. Since then, the band's lyrics have always been of the darker sort, and the same can be said of the band's imagery. ''The Dark Discovery'' was recorded in 1996 and released in 1998, and '' Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy'' was recorded and released in 1999. While those two albums dealt with a variety of ideas, many later albums have been concept albums, dealing with issues like paranoia and alien abduction in ''In Search of Truth'' (2001). '' Recreation Day'', released in 2003, is an album that covers many issues, ranging from death and mourning to general fear and sorrow, all of which contribute to a greater concept of self-reformation. These ideas are explored from many different points of view, such as someone contemplating suicide ("As I Lie Here Bleeding"), ...
