Summer Supercard was a multi-promotional professional wrestling supershow produced by Ring of Honor (ROH) also featuring wrestlers from Mexico's Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and Japan's New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotions and took place on August 9, 2019, at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event streamed live on Honor Club and FITE TV. Background Production When the event was first announced, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) was also part of the event's co-production. Therefore, there was a NWA-sanctioned match scheduled to be on the card: Nick Aldis defending his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against a Villain Enterprises member of Marty Scurll's choosing. However, on July 24, ROH and NWA ended their relationship agreement and the match was officially canceled. Ring Of Honor
Ring of Honor (ROH) is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida. The promotion was founded by Rob Feinstein on February 23, 2002, and was operated by Cary Silkin from 2004 until 2011, when the promotion was sold to the Sinclair Broadcast Group. Marty Scurll
Martin Scurll (born 26 July 1988) is an English professional wrestler. He is best known for his work in Ring of Honor (ROH) as the leader of the stable Villain Enterprises, where he was a one-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship and a one-time ROH World Television Champion, as well as being a former member of the Bullet Club stable. He also worked for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion. Villain Enterprises was a villainous professional wrestling stable consisting of Marty Scurll, Brody King, PCO, and Flip Gordon. The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship is a world heavyweight professional wrestling championship owned and promoted by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), an American professional wrestling promotion. The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) is an American professional wrestling promotion and former professional wrestling governing body operated by its parent company Lightning One, Inc. Founded in 1948, the NWA began as a governing body for a group of regional professional wrestling promotions, the heads of which made up the Board of Directors. In professional wrestling, a referee is an authority figure present in or near the ring during matches. The referee's purpose is similar to that of referees in combat sports such as boxing or mixed martial arts, that is, as an arbiter of the rules and the person charged with rendering decisions.
