Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah
Hassanal Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III ( Jawi: ; born 15 July 1946) is the 29th and current Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei since 1967 and the Prime Minister of Brunei since independence from the United Kingdom in 1984. He is one of the last absolute monarchs in the world. The eldest son of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III and ''Raja Isteri'' (Queen) Pengiran Anak Damit, he succeeded to the throne as the sultan of Brunei following the abdication of his father on 5 October 1967. The sultan has been ranked among the wealthiest individuals in the world. In 2008, ''Forbes'' estimated the sultan's total peak net worth at US$20 billion. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in 2022, the Sultan is currently the world's longest-reigning current monarch, as well as the longest-serving current head of state. The sultan of Brunei is the monarchical head of state of Brunei and head of government in his capacity as prime minister of Brunei. Since independence from the British in 1984, only one sultan has reigned, though the royal institution dates back to the 14th century. The sultan of Brunei can be thought of as synonymous with the ruling House of Bolkiah, with generations being traced from the first sultan, temporarily interrupted by the 13th sultan, Abdul Hakkul Mubin, who in turn was deposed by a member of the House of Bolkiah. Prince Malik Of Brunei
Abdul Malik, (Malay: '' Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri'' Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah; born 30 June 1983) is a prince of Brunei. He is the third son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah by his first wife, Queen Saleha. Early years and education Prince Malik was born in Istana Nurul Iman, the residence of the royal family and educated in Putera-Puteri School at Istana Darul-Iman. Prince Malik was also a graduate of University of Brunei Darussalam in 2008 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Education. Abdication is the act of formally relinquishing monarchical authority. Abdications have played various roles in the succession procedures of monarchies. Absolute monarchy (or Absolutism as a doctrine) is a form of monarchy in which the monarch rules in their own right or power. In an absolute monarchy, the king or queen is by no means limited and has absolute power, though a limited constitution may exist in some countries. These are often hereditary monarchies. On the other hand, in constitutional monarchies, in which the authority of the head of state is also bound or restricted by the constitution, a legislature, or unwritten customs, the king or queen is not the only one to decide, and their entourage also exercises power, mainly the prime minister.
