Suldaan Said Ahmed
Suldaan Said Ahmed (b. 12 February 1993) is a Finnish politician who is a member of the Parliament of Finland and the Helsinki City Council for the Left Alliance. Said Ahmed is the first Somalian-born member of the Finnish parliament. In July 2022, Said Ahmed was appointed Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs' Special Representative on Peace Mediation in the Horn of Africa. Life and career Said Ahmed was born in Mogadishu and immigrated to Finland in 2008 through family reunification. He lived in Kontiolahti, North Karelia, and moved to Helsinki in 2011. Said Ahmed has a security guard education and has also worked as a community worker for the Helsinki Deaconess Foundation. Said Ahmed was elected to the Helsinki City Council in the 2017 municipal elections and re-elected in 2021. In the 2019 parliamentary election Said Ahmed became a vice deputy. Helsinki is a Finnish constituency represented in the Eduskunta. It is coterminous with the city of Helsinki, whose population, , is 656,250. The constituency elects 22 members to the Eduskunta. Abdulkadir Said Ahmed (born 17 July 1999) is a Somali footballer who plays as a midfielder for Finnish club VJS and the Somalia national team. Paavo Arhinmäki
Paavo Erkki Arhinmäki (born 13 December 1976, in Helsinki) is a Finnish politician, a member of the Finnish Parliament and a former Minister for Culture and Sport, representing the Left Alliance, a party whose leader he was from 2009 to 2016. He was first elected to the Finnish Parliament in the 2007 election and re-elected in 2011. Arhinmäki has been a member of the City Council of Helsinki since 2001. He led the Left Youth in 2001–2005. He proposed a halt to nuclear power projects in Finland in the wake of the Great Hanshin earthquake. 2019 Finnish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time, no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party, which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections, dropped to fourth place, losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains, winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively. 2017 Finnish Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Finland on 9 April 2017 with advance voting between 29 March and 4 April. The councils in 295 municipalities in Finland (excluding Åland) were elected. Several municipalities altered the size of their councils (mainly because of municipal mergers) before the elections which resulted in reduction of seats available from 9,674 to 8,999.
