Suicideyear
James Richard Prudhomme (born 15 February 1995), better known as Suicideyear, is an American electronic music composer, DJ and songwriter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Musical career Prudhomme rose to popularity at the age of 17 with several unofficial remixes of hip-hop artists such as The Pack, Danny Brown & Main Attrakionz. He released his self-titled debut mixtape in 2012, which included a remix of Three Six Mafia’s “Late Night Tip”. In May 2013, Prudhomme released his second original mixtape titled “Japan,” a conceptual piece detailing the last 7 months of his life. The track “CCCXXV” was used by Swedish artist Yung Lean for “Hurt”, the lead single from his debut mixtape Unknown Death 2002. Remembrance (EP)
''Remembrance'' is the first extended play of Suicideyear, a project by American producer James Richard Prudhomme. Issued in September 2014, It was the first record of the project to be released under Daniel Lopatin's Mexican Summer label Software. Reviews of the eight-track release from music critics were generally favorable, some reviewers praising its uplifting and emotional style of trap music uncommon in the internet music scene. Background and composition Prudhomme began working on ''Remembrance'' in Florida in mid-2014. Philippe Aubin-Dionne (born 1989), better known by the stage name Jacques Greene, is a Canadian electronic musician based in Toronto. He has released music on the LuckyMe and Night Slugs labels and co-owns Vase Records. Greene released his debut album, ''Feel Infinite,'' in 2017 on LuckyMe. He has produced for vocalists Katy B, Tinashe and How to Dress Well, and has remixed Radiohead, Autre Ne Veut, Ciara, and Shlohmo. Grime (music Genre)
Grime is a genre of electronic music that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life. The style initially spread among pirate radio stations and underground scenes before achieving some mainstream recognition in the UK during the mid-2000s through artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lethal Bizzle, and Wiley. Arthur Ashin (born 20 April 1982), better known by his stage name Autre Ne Veut, is an American singer-songwriter and musician from New York City. The name Autre Ne Veut is taken from an inscription in French on a 15th-century British dress ornament that is stored at The Cloisters and is translated to English as "I want no other." Biography Ashin was born on 20 April 1982 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree at Hampshire College, where he lived with Daniel Lopatin (later of Oneohtrix Point Never). After college, Ashin lived briefly in New York City and Chicago before establishing his home in Brooklyn.
