Sugarloaf Township is a township in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was eight hundred and ninety at the time of the 2020 census. History The Y Covered Bridge No. 156 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Geography Sugarloaf Township is located in the northeast corner of Columbia County, and is bordered to the north by Sullivan County and to the east by Luzerne County. Most of the township is rolling hills, with elevations ranging from , while the northern part of the township contains the southern escarpment of the Allegheny Plateau, with elevations rising to along Huckleberry Mountain in the west, to on Central Mountain to the east, and to on Red Rock Mountain in the northeastern corner. Central Mountain
Central Mountain is a mountain in Columbia County, Sullivan County, and Luzerne County, in Pennsylvania, United States. Its elevation is above sea level. The mountain is part of the Allegheny Front. Rock formations on the mountain include the Pocono Formation and the Duncannon Member of the Catskill Formation. It was historically known as North Mountain, but it was renamed Central Mountain (after the village of Central) in the late 1800s. The mountain is one of the most important sites on the Columbia County Natural Areas Inventory and it is inhabited by dozens of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants. West Branch Fishing Creek
West Branch Fishing Creek is one of the northernmost major tributaries of Fishing Creek in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania and Columbia County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is long and flows through Davidson Township, Sullivan County and Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County. The creek's watershed has an area of 33.5 square miles, nearly all of which is forested land.
