Sue Johanson
Susan Johanson (née Powell; born March 13, 1930) is a Canadian sex educator, public speaker, and registered nurse. Biography Early life and career Johanson was born Susan Powell in Toronto, Ontario, to Wilfrid Powell, a decorated British war hero, and an affluent Ontario-born Irish Protestant mother, Ethel Bell. Her great-uncle was Lord Baden-Powell. Her mother died when Johanson was ten. Johanson attended nursing school in St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, graduating as a registered nurse. Soon after, she married a Swedish-Canadian electrician named Ejnor Johanson. They had three children: Carol, Eric and Jane. The family moved to North York, where Johanson kept house and raised her children. In 1970, Johanson opened a birth control clinic in Don Mills CI high school, the first of its kind in Canada. It resumed production on March 1, 2010 and ended on February 6, 2014. Oxygen (branded on air as Oxygen True Crime) is an American television channel owned by the NBCUniversal Television and Streaming unit of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast, through its Cable Entertainment Group subsidiary. W Network (often shortened to W) is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. Sunday Night Sex Show
The ''Sunday Night Sex Show'' was a live call-in Television in Canada, Canadian television show hosted by Sue Johanson, which ran from 1996 to 2005. It aired on the W Network and was one of their most popular programs. Every week, callers would line up on the phone to talk to Johanson, about various topics from how to spice up one's sex life, to advice on how to select the right sex toy, to how to deal with various relationship issues. For many years, reruns of the television show ran on the Oxygen Network in the United States, but American viewers were frustrated that they couldn't call in during the live airing in Canada. Eventually, a US version of the show, titled ''Talk Sex with Sue Johanson'', was created. Reasons for the Canadian cancellation were never given by either Johanson or the W Network.
