Sudan Football Association
The Sudan Football Association (S.F.A.) ( ar, الإتحاد السوداني لكرة القدم) is the governing body of football in Sudan. It was established in 1936 and affiliated with FIFA in 1948. Along with the national associations of Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa, the Sudan Football Association was one of the founding members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 1957. The International Federation of Football Associations, FIFA, decided to suspend the activities of the Sudan Football Association (SFA) starting from Friday 30 June 2017. The suspension was lifted on Thursday 13 July 2017. Association Football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The sport of football (soccer), football in the East African country of Sudan is managed by the Sudan Football Association. The association administers the Sudan national football team, national football team, as well as the Sudan Premier League, Premier League. The Sudan Football Association, which was founded in 1946, and FIFA affiliated in 1948, was one of the founding members of the Confederation of African Football, and continues to be a member of the Confederation. Like in many countries, football is the most popular sport also in Sudan. Since at least 2006, there was also an inofficial Sudan women's national football team, trained by a male coach. The Sudanese Women Football League ( ar, دوري كرة القدم السوداني للسيدات) is the top flight of women's association football in Sudan. It is the women's equivalent of the Sudan Premier League, but is not professional. The competition is run by the Sudan Football Association. History On 1 October 2019, Sudan witnessed the opening of the first women's football tournament in Sudan, organized by the Sudanese Football Association and sponsored by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Engineer Walaa Al-Boushi. The opening match was between Al Tahady and Al Difaa teams. The opening was attended by hundreds of fans and an estimated number of diplomats and media personnel. Sudan Women's National Football Team
The Sudan women's national football team () is the official women's national football team of the country of Sudan. The team was established in 2021, and is controlled by the Sudan Football Association (SFA), the governing body for football in Sudan. Women were not allowed to officially participate in sports such as football, until the Sudanese revolution of 2018–19 abolished the former restrictive public order laws. In September 2019, a women's league with 21 teams from different cities in Sudan was established.
