"Sucker M.C.'s" (also known as "Krush-Groove 1" or "Sucker M.C.'s (Krush-Groove 1)" and sometimes spelled as "Sucker MCs", "Sucker MC's" or "Sucker M.C.s") is a song by American hip hop group Run-D.M.C. It was first released in 1983 as B-side to " It's Like That". The two-sided release marked the start of Run-D.M.C.'s career as their first single, and it is widely regarded as ushering in a new school of hip hop artists with a street image and an abrasive, minimalist sound that marked them out from their predecessors. Both tracks were collected on the trio's self-titled debut album in 1984. WBAU was the first station to play the two songs. Sucker DJ Dimples D. was selected as the vocalist for a track by hip hop producer Marley Marl entitled " Sucker DJ's (I Will Survive)", released on Party Time Records in 1983. "Sucker D.J.'s" was written by Crystal Smith / Williams / Kaye / Montenegro. "Sucker DJ" (also known as "Sucker DJ's (I Will Survive)", or "Sucker DJ (A Witch for Love)") is a song by American rapper Dimples D. It was written by Buddy Kaye, Crystal Smith, Hugo Montenegro and Marlon Williams and originally released in 1983 by Party Time Records, without any success in the charts. In 1990, Dutch DJ and producer Ben Liebrand remixed the song, including a sample of the theme tune of American sitcom ''I Dream of Jeannie'', written by Montenegro and Kaye. An answer song, response song or answer record, is a song (usually a recorded track) made in answer to a previous song, normally by another artist. The concept became widespread in blues and R&B recorded music in the 1930s to the 1950s. Answer songs were also extremely popular in country music in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, sometimes as female responses to an original hit by a male artist or male responses to a hit by a female artist. Marlon Williams (born September 30, 1962), better known by his stage name Marley Marl, is an American DJ, record producer, rapper and record label founder, primarily operating in hip hop music. Marlon grew up in Queensbridge housing projects located in Queens, New York. He performed in local talent shows during the early days of rap music, further fueling his interest.
