Suchindram Theroor Birds Sanctuary
The Suchindram Theroor Vembannur Wetland Complex is a Protected areas of Tamil Nadu, protected area comprising the Suchindram Kulam wetlands at , and the Theroor Kulam wetlands at , and the Vembannur Wetland Complex, all near Suchindram town in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located between Nagercoil and Kanyakumari on the NH-47, National Highway No. 47. Being at the extreme southern tip of India, this area underlies the southernmost continental range of the Central Asian Flyway. ''Nelumbo'' is a genus of aquatic plants with large, showy flowers. Members are commonly called lotus, though the name is also applied to various other plants and plant groups, including the unrelated genus '' Lotus''. Members outwardly resemble those in the family Nymphaeaceae ("water lilies"), but ''Nelumbo'' is actually very distant to that family. There are only two known living species of lotus; ''Nelumbo nucifera'' is native to East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and probably Australia, and is better-known. Bengal Tiger
The Bengal tiger is a population of the ''Panthera tigris tigris'' subspecies. It ranks among the biggest wild cats alive today. It is considered to belong to the world's charismatic megafauna. The tiger is estimated to have been present in the Indian subcontinent since the Late Pleistocene, for about 12,000 to 16,500 years. Kanyakumari Wildlife Sanctuary
Kanyakumari Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu South India declared in February 2008. The area is a tiger habitat. Seven rivers originate in the forest including the Thamirabarani River and Pahrali River. Wildlife The region is one of the most diverse wildlife forest location in India. Several new species of plants, amphibians and insects discovered here are found nowhere else, making it an endemic region. The area is a wildlife corridor with high biodiversity, and in addition to tigers, is home to the threatened species: Indian bison, elephant, Indian rock python, lion-tailed macaque, mouse deer, Nilgiri tahr and sambar deer.
