Suchart Chairsuvaparb
Suchart Jairsuraparp (or Chairsuvaparb, Thai: สุชาติ แจสุรภาพ, born 13 June 1951) is a Thai former sprinter. He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics in the 100 m and 4 × 100 m events, but failed to reach the finals. Jairsuraparp won the 100 m event at the Asian Championships in 1979, 1981 and 1983, placing second in 1973. At the Asian Games he won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals between 1974 and 1982. Asian Games
The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. There have been nine nations that have hosted the Asian Games. Forty-six nations have participated in the Games, including Israel, which was excluded from the Games altogether after Israel managed to win a silver medal (in their last participation) at the 1974 Asian Games in Iran. The men's 100 metres Sprint (running), sprint event at the Athletics at the 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was held at Olympic Stadium (Montreal), Olympic Stadium on July 23 and 24. Sixty-three athletes from 40 nations competed. Each nation was limited to 3 athletes per rules in force since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Hasely Crawford of Trinidad and Tobago, earning the nation's first gold medal and making Crawford a national hero. Don Quarrie's silver medal made Jamaica only the third country to reach the men's 100 metres podium three consecutive times (after the United States, which had streaks of 9 Games and 7 Games, and Great Britain, which had medaled consecutively in 1920, 1924, and 1928). Valeriy Borzov of the Soviet Union was unable to defend his title, but by taking bronze became the third man to medal twice in the event.
