''Such Is Life'' is a 1915 American silent drama film directed by Joe De Grasse and featuring Lon Chaney, Pauline Bush and Olive Carey. The film is now considered to be lost. Plot Polly, the maid at a theatrical boarding house, falls in love with Will Deming, a handsome stage actor living at the house. Will is the only one in the place who pays any attention to Polly whatsoever. She often dreams of herself as Mrs. Will Deming. Meanwhile Olive Trent, an aspiring young actress, rents a room at the house while trying to break into show business. Will sees Olive at an agency and tries to help her start a career, but she rejects his advances, not realizing he's just trying to help her out. Will doesn't realize that he and Olive actually live in the same house. Diana Serra Cary (born Peggy-Jean Montgomery; October 29, 1918 – February 24, 2020), known as Baby Peggy, was an American child film actress, vaudevillian, author and silent film historian. She was the last living person with a substantial career in silent films. Baby Peggy was one of the three major American child stars of the Hollywood silent film era along with Jackie Coogan and Baby Marie. Between 1921 and 1924, she made over 150 short films for the ''Century Film Corporation''. In 1922, she received over 1.2 million fan letters and by 1924, she had been dubbed ''The Million Dollar Baby'' for her $1.5 million annual salary ($ million in ). Colin James Nutley (born 28 February 1944) is an English director successful in the Swedish film industry. Career Nutley went to Portsmouth Art College and began his career in British television as a graphic designer. He then turned to drama and documentary film-making for ITV, BBC and Channel 4. He directed the first two episodes of children's television series ''Press Gang'', but was unhappy with the final edit so asked for his name to be removed from the credit He was, however, the driving force behind Southern Television's ITV-networked children's series The Flockton Flyer, taking personal responsibility for much of the casting, and acting as producer of the first series (filmed 1976, broadcast 1977) and producer/director of the second series (filmed 1977, broadcast 1978). ''Such Is Life: Being Certain Extracts From The Diary of Tom Collins'' is a novel written by the Australian author Joseph Furphy (aka Tom Collins) in 1897, and published on 1 August 1903. It is a fictional account of the life of rural dwellers, including bullocky, bullock drivers, squatters and itinerant travellers, in southern New South Wales and Victoria (Australia), Victoria, during the 1880s. The book gives the impression of being a series of loosely interwoven stories of the various people encountered by the narrator as he travels about the countryside. The people he meets round campfires pass on news and gossip and tell stories, so that sometimes the reader can infer information by putting these second hand stories together with the action of the narrative.
