Suburban One League
Suburban One League, often abbreviated "SOL" is an athletic conference in Southeastern Pennsylvania, serving high schools in Montgomery County and Bucks County. The league was established in 1922 as the "Suburban League." Since its inception, SOL has produced many district, state, and even some national championships. It has also produced some great athletes, including Baseball Hall of Fame member Reggie Jackson. History Early years to World War II Today's Suburban One League is a direct descendant of the Philadelphia Suburban High School Athletic Association, or Suburban League as it became popularly known. The first sport in which the Suburban League competed was basketball in 1922–23. Eleven schools, eight from Delaware County and three from Montgomery County, comprised the league that first season. The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc., also known by its acronymn PIAA, is one of the governing bodies of high school and middle school athletics for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the United States. North Penn High School
North Penn High School is a part of the North Penn School District and is located in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania, about a mile outside of Lansdale borough, 25 miles northwest of Philadelphia, along Valley Forge Road (Pennsylvania Route 363). North Penn High School was created in 1955 as the result of a consolidation of seven school districts (Hatfield Joint Consolidated, Lansdale Borough, Line Lexington Independent, Montgomery Township, North Wales Borough, Towamencin Township and Upper Gwynedd Township) to educate students from three former high schools: Hatfield High School, Lansdale High School, and North Wales High School. Upper Dublin High School (UDHS) is a four-year public high school located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school in the Upper Dublin School District. UDHS is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. Hatboro-Horsham High School
Hatboro-Horsham Senior High School is a comprehensive public high school, serving grades 9 -12, located in Horsham, Pennsylvania, about 17 miles outside of Philadelphia. Hatboro-Horsham Senior High School, a successor of the Loller Academy, originally opened in 1950 on Old York Road in Hatboro following the jointure of the Hatboro-Horsham School District. Springfield Township High School (commonly STHS) is a public high school serving grades 9-12. The school serves Springfield Township, Pennsylvania and is the sole high school of the Springfield Township School District. History In 1922, Springfield Township planned to construct a high school to serve both juniors and seniors in the area. The original high school was completed in 1924, built at Hillcrest Pond, the former site of White City amusement park. Although expanded several times in the 1930s and 40s, the township needed to construct a bigger high school to meet the demands of the growing township. Council Rock High School North is a high school located in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It is a part of the Council Rock School District. The school is located across from Newtown Middle School and Tyler State Park, and near Bucks County Community College. The current student population is 1,588 for grades 9–12. The school is three stories tall and is divided into an East wing and a West wing. Until 2006, there was no direct connection between the third floors on each wing, so students and staff had to use hallways on the first or second floor to cross between wings. Bensalem High School is a public high school in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. History Original building Planning for the original Bensalem Township High School (Bensalem High School or BHS for short) began in 1920 with the acquisition of land adjoining the school property known as the Cornwells Heights Elementary School, at 2400 Bristol Pike. A. Oscar Martin, registered architect, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, was selected to design a building along the lines and scope established by the Board of Education. Martin had years of experience in designing school buildings. The architect prepared drawings in 1920, using the existing two-story stone building of two classrooms as a nucleus. He developed a progressive planning system of which one unit was constructed that same year. It consisted of one classroom and one end of the central corridor.
