Subliminal (album)
''Subliminal'' () is the debut solo album by Congolese-French singer and rapper Maître Gims. The 18-track album was released 20 May 2013 on Wati B and Monstre Marin Corporation, the latter founded by Maître Gims himself. The lyrics were all by Maître Gims whereas the music was by Maître Gims, Renaud Rebillaud and Stan-E Music. The album was a great success charting in France (reaching #2), Belgium (reaching #1) as well as charting in Switzerland. On 2 December 2013, it was reissued and titled ''Subliminal / La face cachée'' (, ), including 6 additional tracks for a total of 24 tracks. By 31 August 2015, the album had accumulated a total of more than 1,000,000 copies sold in France. In March 2021, "Bella" combined 488 million views. Gandhi Bilel Djuna (; born 6 May 1986), better known by his stage name Maître Gims () and more recently just Gims (, ; sometimes stylized as GIMS), is a Congolese-French rapper, singer and songwriter. He grew up in France and currently lives in France and Morocco. He is a former member of the hip hop group Sexion d'Assaut and released his first major album, ''Subliminal'' in 2013. The album sold over a million copies in France and peaked at number two in the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique. His other two albums follow: '' Mon cœur avait raison'' in 2015 and ''Ceinture noire'' in 2018 reached number one in France and Belgium (Wallonia) and peaked in the top 40 in various European countries, including Denmark, Italy and Switzerland. L'Institut
L'Institut is a French hip hop collective, established in 2005 as an offshoot of Sexion d'Assaut, and associated with Wati B. L'institut was formed by various rap and hip hop / freestyle acts mostly coming from 9th arrondissement in Paris. L'Institut released the collective album ''Equipe de nuit'' in June 2013 that included in addition various collaborations with L.I.O. Pétrodollars, S.Pri Noir and Shin Sekaï. The group was dissolved in 2014, despite encouraging initial success with various band members concentrating on solo projects and collaborations. Members of the collective notably Dr. Beriz, Insolent and Abou Debeing have also had many separate releases, collaborations and chart success in their own right. Armando Christian Pérez (born January 15, 1981), known professionally by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper and businessman. He began his career in the early 2000s, recording reggaeton, Latin hip hop, and crunk music under a multitude of labels. Maska (rapper)
Bastien Vincent, known by his stage name Maska (born 21 May 1985 in Paris), is a French rapper and dancer. He is a founding member of the French rap/hip hop collective Sexion d'Assaut. In October 2014, Maska released his first solo album'', Espace-temps'', which ranked 14th on the Top Albums in France. Early life Originally from Lozère, he grew up in Paris in the 9th arrondissement while mingling with his friends, most of whom would later become part of the hip hop group Sexion d'Assault. He grew up in a rich neighborhood despite his family having a substandard income, a situation much early in Bastien's life which would leave him with feelings of unease. Having experienced a musical awakening quite young thanks to his parents, Maska became a fan of French rap who, unlike Gims, ended up receiving a rather American musical education, influenced by Sisqó, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Johnny Clegg. Dry (rapper)
Delica Landry (born 19 November 1977), better known by his stage name Dry, is a French rapper of Congolese origin. He is also known by the aliases "L'Amiral" and "L'Intransférable". Landry Delica grew up in Sevran in Seine-Saint-Denis, outside of Paris, where he was friends with the rapper Nessbeal before moving in 1991 to Orly in the Val-de-Marne. In addition to his solo work, Dry is a member of French rap group Intouchable alongside band member Demon One (real name Hakim Sid). He is also part of the French rap collective Mafia K-1 Fry (sometimes stylized as Mafia K'1 Fry) alongside the other Intouchable member Demon One. Intouchable, Dry and Demon One had a lot of collaborations with other members of the collective. Sexion d'Assaut (), formerly known as 3ème Prototype (for "Troisième Prototype" ; en, "3rd Prototype"), is a French hip hop band formed in 2002, composed of eight Parisian rappers. They are signed to independent record label Wati B, which is under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment France. The founding members were L.I.O. Pétrodollars, Black M, Maska and Lefa. In 2003, it became a collective as Maître Gims and JR O Crom joined in. Throughout its existence, it included about 69 rappers, but set-up changed from time to time. Alpha Diallo (born 27 December 1984), better known by his stage name Black M (originally Black Mesrimes), is a French rapper, singer, songwriter and member of the Sexion d'Assaut group. In 2014, he released his first solo album, entitled ''Les yeux plus gros que le monde'', which shortly after was certified diamond.
