Suad (Arabic: سعاد ''su‘ad'') and the variants Souad, Soad, stems from the Arabic verb ''sa‘ada'' (سَعَدَ - 'to be happy, fortunate or lucky') which the name means "good luck, good fortune, happiness, auspicious, prosperous, favorable". Suad is another variant from the Arabic given name Saad. Generally, the name is originally a female given name, however, men also use it as a given name. Suad Salih
Suad Ibrahim Salih () (1945) is an Egyptian television personality, preacher, and Islamic scholar. She is Professor and Head of Comparative Jurisprudence and Dean of the Faculty of the Women's College at Al-Azhar University. She was formerly dean of Islamic and Arabic studies for women at Mansoura University. Biography In 1998, Salih campaigned in Egypt to allow women to serve as mufti. She petitioned the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Nasr Farid Wasil, to allow her to become a mufti and issue fatwas, arguing Islam does not prohibit women from serving as muftis. She has authored works of gender analysis on Islamic law. Suad Joseph ( ar, سعاد جوزيف; born 6 September 1943) received her doctorate in Anthropology from Columbia University in 1975. Dr. Joseph is Professor of Anthropology and Women and Gender Studies at the University of California, Davis and in 2009 was President of the Middle East Studies Association of North America. Suad Gruda (born 27 July 1991) is a Swedish and Montenegrin retired footballer who last played for Nyköpings BIS as a midfielder. Club career Gruda was born in Macedonia but his family relocated to Sweden and Luleå the year after his birth. Suad Beširević (4 March 1963 – 28 September 2019) was a Slovene football manager and a professional football player. Playing career Club He was regarded as one of the best players of FK Borac Banja Luka, where he spent most of his career and where he won the 1987–88 Yugoslav Cup. He also won the 1990–91 Cypriot First Division and the 1991–92 Cypriot Cup with Apollon Limassol FC. Suad al-Attar (Arabic, سعاد العطار) (born 1942) is an Iraqi painter whose work is in private and public collections worldwide, including The British Museum and the Gulbenkian Collection. She has held over twenty solo exhibitions, including one in Baghdad that became the first solo exhibition in the country's history for a woman artist. Her many awards include the first prize at the International Biennale in Cairo in 1984 and an award of distinction at the Biennale held in Malta in 1995.
