Stützengrün is a community in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany. Geography Location Stützengrün is in the Ore Mountains right on the border with the Vogtland. In Stützengrün is found the Weißbach (stream), which flows directly into the Eibenstock Reservoir. Geology The community lies on a hilly plateau of Eibenstock tourmaline-granite and stretches from a height of 570 up to 680 metres above sea level. Constituent communities As well as the namesake community of Stützengrün, the municipal area also includes the former municipalities of Hundshübel and Lichtenau. History From 1952 to 1990, Stützengrün was part of the Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt of East Germany. Hundshübel is a village in Erzgebirgskreis district of Saxony, forming a subdivision of the municipality of Stützengrün in the Ore Mountains. It is located north of Eibenstock Dam on federal highway B 169. History The village was first mentioned in writing as ''Hudesudell'' on the occasion of the sale of the Tettau noble family selling the surrounding lands to the House of Wettin in 1533. At this time, about ten farmer families were living there who originated from Eibenstock and went there to church. In 1563 there were 15 families, in 1563 already 22. (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek München) The first wooden church, mentioned in 1545, was replaced by new building in 1558 which was financed by donations. After this had become dilapidated in the 18th century, a new church was built from 1784 until 1788. When Prince-elector John the Magnanimous took over the lordship of Schwarzenberg, Lutheranism which had hitherto only slowly gained acceptance spread quickly. In 1817 the ... Schönheide
Schönheide is a municipality in Saxony's district of Erzgebirgskreis. It lies in the western Ore Mountains, and was founded as an industrial village. Geography Schönheide is five kilometres long, and lies in the west of the District of Aue-Schwarzenberg, mostly in a side valley of the River Zwickauer Mulde, which forms the community's southern boundary. In the north lies Stützengrün, in the east and southeast Eibenstock, in the west Auerbach and Rodewisch, and in the northwest Steinberg. Schönheide has four subdistricts, namely: Schönheide, Schwarzwinkel, Neuheide and Wilzschhaus. Schönheide is further subdivided into Oberdorf, Heinzwinkel, Mitteldorf, Webersberg and Schönheiderhammer. Wilzschaus lies in the valley of the River Mulde. The highest point is ''der Knock'' at 767m. History The first settler recorded in the Schönheide area was Urban Männel, who was mentioned during a regal visit of 1537. Erzgebirgskreis
Erzgebirgskreis is a district ('' Kreis'') in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is named after the Erzgebirge ("Ore Mountains"), a mountain range in the southern part of the district which forms part of the Germany–Czech Republic border. It borders (from the west and clockwise) the districts of Vogtlandkreis and Zwickau, the urban district Chemnitz, the district Mittelsachsen and the Czech Republic. History The district was established by merging the former districts of Annaberg, Aue-Schwarzenberg, Stollberg and Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis as part of the district reform of August 2008. Granite
Granite () is a coarse-grained (phaneritic) intrusive igneous rock composed mostly of quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase. It forms from magma with a high content of silica and alkali metal oxides that slowly cools and solidifies underground.
