Stuttgart–Wendlingen High-speed Railway
The Stuttgart–Wendlingen high-speed railway is a proposed German high-speed line to be built as part of the Stuttgart 21 project. It runs from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof via the Filder Tunnel to the Filder plain and from there to the Neckar valley at Wendlingen, where it runs on to the Wendlingen–Ulm high-speed line. It is part of the Paris-Budapest axis as defined by the European Union. The line would connect the new Filder station via the Airport Loop, and another line would connect to the existing airport station. The design speed of the approximately 25.2 km line is mostly 250 km/h. It would enter commercial service in December 2024. 15 KV AC Railway Electrification
Railway electrification systems using at are used on transport railways in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway. The high voltage enables high power transmission with the lower frequency reducing the losses of the traction motors that were available at the beginning of the 20th century. The Filder (plural) – also Filder Plain (german: Filderebene) – is a natural region (major unit no. 106) of the Swabian Keuper-Lias Land within the South German Scarplands. They form a gently rolling, fertile plateau in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, which extends over the western half of the county of Esslingen and the southern part of the borough of the state capital of Stuttgart. Geologically it was formed by the transformation of a fault zone from the Lias period. Stuttgart Trade Fair
Messe Stuttgart is a convention center next to Stuttgart International Airport, 12 km south of Stuttgart, Germany. It is the ninth-biggest convention center in Germany. The new Messe Stuttgart site, completed in 2007, is right next to the A8 autobahn (highway). The center is accessible from Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe station on the local suburban railway network. Buses also travel to Messe Stuttgart from nearby Esslingen, Göppingen, Reutlingen and Tübingen. There are plans to link Messe Stuttgart and Stuttgart International Airport to the proposed Stuttgart–Wendlingen high-speed railway between Stuttgart and Ulm by 2019 as part of the Stuttgart 21 Project. Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe Station
Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe (German for Stuttgart Airport/Trade Fair) station is a station on the network of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. Despite its name the station is not in the city of Stuttgart, rather it is in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. History The draft plans for the construction of an S-Bahn system in the Stuttgart area in the 1960s included consideration of a connection to the Filder plain. The line from Stuttgart-Rohr to Neuhausen auf den Fildern, on which passenger services had been closed in 1955 would be upgraded to enable S-Bahn operations to Stuttgart airport. However, the provision of better public transport links to the airport at that time was not considered a priority and had no urgency.
