Studium Generale Marcianum
The Studium Generale Marcianum was a complex of educational institutions established in Venice in 2004 by the Patriarchate of Venice to provide educational services at all levels from secondary school through post-graduate programs, including a faculty of theology, as well as research services and cultural programming in the manner of an interdisciplinary research institution. The Marcianum Foundation (Fondazione Studium Generale Marcianum, in breve Fondazione Marcianum) was founded in 2008 to support these programs and such ancillary projects as facilities management and library services. The Marcianum was largely dismantled in 2014 when its finances proved an impossible burden for the Church in Venice to support. Patriarchate Of Venice
The Patriarchate of Venice ( la, Patriarchatus Venetiarum), also sometimes called the Archdiocese of Venice, is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or patriarchal archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Venice, Italy. In 1451 the Patriarchate of Grado was merged with the Bishopric of Castello and Venice to form the Archdiocese of Venice. The ordinary of the archdiocese is the Patriarch of Venice, who was traditionally created a cardinal in consistory by the Pope. The Patriarch of Venice has, however, the right to wear cardinal's scarlet vestment. The mother church of the archdiocese is the Basilica di San Marco in Venezia. Angelo Scola
Angelo Scola (; born 7 November 1941) is an Italian Cardinal of the Catholic Church, philosopher and theologian. He was Archbishop of Milan from 2011 to 2017. He had served as Patriarch of Venice from 2002 to 2011. He has been a cardinal since 2003 and a bishop since 1991. Angelo Sodano
Angelo Raffaele Sodano, GCC (23 November 1927 – 27 May 2022) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church and from 1991 on a cardinal. He was the Dean of the College of Cardinals from 2005 to 2019 and Cardinal Secretary of State from 1991 to 2006; Sodano was the first person since 1828 to serve simultaneously as Dean and Secretary of State. On 22 June 2006, Pope Benedict XVI accepted Sodano's resignation as Secretary of State, effective on 15 September 2006. He had served in the diplomatic corps of the Holy See since 1959, including a decade as nuncio to Chile from 1978 to 1988. Sandro Magister (born 2 October 1943) is an Italian journalist who writes for the magazine ''L'espresso''. Francesco Moraglia (born 25 May 1953) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. He has been Patriarch of Venice since March 2012; he is the first native of Genoa to hold that position. He was bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of La Spezia-Sarzana-Brugnato, La Spezia-Sarzana-Brugnato from 2008 to 2012.
