Stuart Saunders Hogg
Sir Stuart Saunders Hogg CIE (17 February 1833 – 23 March 1921) was a British civil servant in the Indian Civil Services of British India. He was born in 1833 in Delhi to Sir James Hogg, formerly a director of the British East India Company and the Registrar of the Calcutta High Court. In 1853, at the age of twenty, Stuart Hogg entered the Indian Civil Services. During the Sepoy Mutiny, he was posted in the Punjab. Later, he joined the Bengal government as the Police Commissioner of Calcutta where he established the Detective Department. From 1863 to 1877 he was the Chairman of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation. In 1875, he was knighted. Stuart Hogg
Stuart Hogg (born 24 June 1992) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership and used to captain the Scottish national team. His playing positions are fullback and fly-half. Hogg has twice been named Six Nations Player of the Tournament, in 2016 and 2017. He has been selected to tour with the British & Irish Lions on three consecutive occasions (2013, 2017 and 2021). His 2017 tour was cut short due to an injury, but in 2021 he gained two Lions Test caps against South Africa. Early life and education Hogg comes from the Scottish Borders.
