Stuart A. Halsan (born July 8, 1952) is a former member of the Washington House of Representatives and the Washington State Senate. Biography Halsan was born on July 8, 1952, in Seattle, Washington. His great-great-grandfather, Oliver A. Caswell Oliver A. Caswell (May 26, 1826 – May 1, 1885) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Caswell was born on May 26, 1826, in Norwich, Connecticut. Later, he settled in Mount Sterling, Wisconsin. He died at his home near Mount S ..., was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Halsan is Lutheran and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moose International. Career Halsan was a member of the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1985 and of the Senate from 1985 to 1988. He represented Washington's 20th legislative district in both cases. Moose International
The Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888 and headquartered in Mooseheart, Illinois. Moose International supports the operation of Mooseheart Child City & School, a community for children and teens in need, located west of Chicago; and Moosehaven, a retirement community for its members near Jacksonville, Florida. Additionally, the Moose organization conducts numerous sports and recreational programs, in local Lodge/Chapter facilities called either Moose Family Centers or Activity Centers, in the majority of 44 State and Provincial Associations, and on a fraternity-wide basis. Washington's 20th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. The district includes a southern section of Thurston County, most of Lewis and Cowlitz counties, and the northern tip of Clark County. This mostly rural district is represented by state senator John Braun and state representatives Peter Abbarno (position 1) and Ed Orcutt (position 2), all Republicans. Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) is a fraternal organization that was founded on February 6, 1898, in Seattle, Washington, by a group of six theater owners including John Cort (the first president), brothers John W. and Tim J. Considine, Harry (H.L.) Leavitt (who later joined the Loyal Order of Moose), Mose Goldsmith and Arthur Williams. Originally made up of those engaged in one way or another in the performing arts, the Eagles grew and claimed credit for establishing the Mother's Day holiday in the United States as well as the "impetus for Social Security" in the United States.
