Stu Sells Toronto Tankard
The Stu Sells Toronto Tankard is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the High Park Club in Toronto, Ontario. The men's tournament, started in 2010, is held in a triple-knockout format, while the women's tournament, originally had a round-robin format, but became a triple knock out in 2021. The tournament is sponsored by Stu Sells, a local real estate company, and is part of the "Stu Sells Series" or events, which includes the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard, the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic, and a number of other junior and local tour events. The men's event became a World Curling Tour event in 2011, but was later discontinued after the 2019 edition. The women's event became a World Curling Tour event in 2016, but was also discontinued in 2020. Both the men's and women's events are also part of the Ontario Curling Tour. Richard Hart (curler)
Richard Hart (born October 14, 1968) is a Canadian curler from Pickering, Ontario. He is a Brier and world champion, as well as an Olympic silver medallist. He currently coaches the Mike McEwen rink. Career Hart attended his first Brier in 1995 as an alternate for Ed Werenich. It was his only major tournament experience before winning the 1997 Canadian Olympic trials as the third for the Mike Harris team. At the 1998 Winter Olympics, the team won a silver medal. He left the team in 2000, and joined up with Glenn Howard. Eventually with Howard, Hart would go to another Brier, in 2006 where they lost in the final. The following year, they won the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier and then the 2007 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. As vice with Glenn Howard he placed 2nd in the Olympic trials in Edmonton in 2009 and is a runner up for the past 3 Briers. Robert Rumfeldt
Robert "Rob" Rumfeldt (born February 18, 1966 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Guelph. Rumfeldt was a member of the 1996 Ontario provincial championship team, when he played second for Bob Ingram. As of 2015, Rumfeldt has played in ten provincial men's championships. A longtime second, Rumfeldt began skipping his own team for the 2009-10 season. In addition to winning the 1996 provincial men's championship, Rumfeldt has also won the 1994 provincial mixed championship (with Ingram) on a team that included his wife Paulinka, and the 1994 Silver Tankard. 1996 Brier Rumfeldt won the provincial championship in 1996, playing second for Bob Ingram's Ridgetown Curling Club rink which also consisted of Larry Smyth (third) and James Brackett (lead). It was Rumfeldt's only career men's provincial title. The team finished with a record of 4-7, in 10th place, one of the worst records ever for Ontario. Chris Gardner (curler)
Christopher James Gardner (born March 25, 1985 in Ottawa) is a Canadian curler who competes mainly in Ontario. Career Gardner skipped his bantam mixed team to a provincial championship in 2002, and the following year he won the provincial junior mixed title. Gardner's men's team, which he skips, has had some success on the provincial curling tour circuit. In 2009, they made their first provincial championship, finishing with a 3-6 record. He played in his second provincial championship in 2010, finishing in last with a 1-9 record. In April 2010, Gardner won the 2011 provincial mixed championship as skip, earning him the right to play in the 2011 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with Erin Morrissey at third, Brad Kidd at second and Kim Brown at lead. Adam Spencer (curler)
Adam Spencer, nicknamed "Crusher" (born July 11, 1972) is a Canadian curler from Guelph, Ontario. Career Juniors In 1992, Spencer skipped a team consisting of Greg Robinson, Jeff Robinson and Nolan Sims to a provincial junior title. This qualified the rink to represent Ontario at the 1992 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, he led his Ontario rink to a 6-5 round robin record. This put them in a three-way tie for third place. They would go on to lose their tie breaker match against Saskatchewan's Scott Bitz. Men's After juniors, Spencer won a provincial Colts championship in 1994. Joe Frans
Joseph Mark Frans (born July 1, 1975 in Grimsby, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Guelph, Ontario. Frans is most notable for being a two-time provincial champion and for being suspended from competitive curling for cocaine usage. Career Frans obtained fame as a curler in 1991, when he won the provincial school boys championship and the provincial junior mixed championship while curling in Smiths Falls, Ontario. In 1993, Frans won the provincial junior championship while playing in St. Catharines, Ontario. At the 1993 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, his team would finish with a 6-5 record. In 1994, Frans would win a second straight provincial championship, this time with Bradford, Ontario. At the 1994 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, he skipped the Ontario team to a 4th place finish (7-4 record), just out of the playoffs.
