Strung-Out Troubadours
Strung-Out Troubadours is the musical duo of Rik Emmett (of Canadian rock band Triumph) and Dave Dunlop John David Dunlop (born September 18, 1965 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian guitarist, composer, producer, recording engineer, and vocalist. Dunlop was a member, writer, guitarist, and back-up singer in Canadian rock band The Full Nine (Disney's .... The pair regularly perform live shows together. Most of the songs are performed on acoustic guitars without vocals, with Emmett singing lead vocal on some selections. History Emmett and Dunlop have played together since they met while both teaching at the National Summer Guitar Workshop in 1990. Dunlop began making appearances at Emmett's concerts, and the pair later began recording as a duo. In 2006 they released the album ''Strung-Out Troubadours'', and began performing under that name. The classical guitar (also known as the nylon-string guitar or Spanish guitar) is a member of the guitar family used in classical music and other styles. Jazz guitar may refer to either a type of electric guitar or a guitar playing style in jazz, using electric amplification to increase the volume of acoustic guitars. In the early 1930s, jazz musicians sought to amplify their sound to be heard over loud big bands. Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Triumph was a Canadian hard rock band formed in 1975 that was popular in the late 1970s and the 1980s, building on its reputation and success as a live band. Between its 16 albums and DVDs, it has received 18 gold and nine platinum awards in Canada and the United States. Rik Emmett
Richard Gordon Emmett (born July 10, 1953) is a vocalist, guitarist, and member of the Canadian rock band Triumph. Career Emmett left Triumph in 1988 to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, '' Absolutely'', was released in 1990 and became a moderate hit across the United States and Canada thanks to the hits "When a Heart Breaks," "Big Lie" and "Saved by Love". He is also a writer for ''Guitar Player'' magazine and teaches song-writing and music business at Humber College in Toronto. For a time during the 1980s, Emmett contributed cartoons to ''Hit Parader'' magazine satirizing the music industry.
