''Striker'' is a Bengali sports drama film directed by Archan Chakravarty. The film was based on a same name novel by Moti Nandi and released on 25 August 1978 under the banner of Keya films. Plot The film tells the story of a young footballer Prasun's life and his struggle to make a mark in Kolkata football. His father was also an eminent footballer but deprived by his club authority. Prasun has a dream to play on behalf of a big football club of Kolkata maidan. Chinmoy Roy
Chinmoy Roy (1940–2019) was an Indian Bengali male actor. He was famous for his comic roles in Bengali movies, though his versatility has allowed him to play a variety of roles. Though he was known for portraying various character roles, Roy was equally at ease in portraying the famous fictional character Tenida on screen. He held his own among prominent performers like Soumitra Chatterjee, Robi Ghose and Tarun Kumar in the comedies ''Basanto Bilap'', ''Dhonni Meye'', and ''Nanigopaler Biye''. He was also seen in a small role in Satyajit Ray's '' Goopy Gyne o Bagha Byne'', in which he portrayed a spy working for the Minister of Halla. Roy had to contend with chronic health problems. Nonetheless, he had been working on a script for a film called ''Sudama- The Half Man''. Utpal Dutta () (29 March 1929 – 19 August 1993) was an Indian actor, director, and writer-playwright. He was primarily an actor in Bengali theatre, where he became a pioneering figure in Modern Indian theatre, when he founded the "Little Theatre Group" in 1949. This group enacted many English, Shakespearean and Brecht plays, in a period now known as the "Epic theatre" period, before it immersed itself completely in highly political and radical theatre. Ruma Guha Thakurta (21 November 1934 – 3 June 2019) was an Indian actress and singer primarily associated with Bengali language films. She founded Calcutta Youth Choir in 1958. Early life Ruma Guha Thakurta was born on 3 November 1934 to Satyen Ghosh (Monty Ghosh) and singer Sati Devi. Her family was culturally inclined to Brahmo Samaj, a societal component of Brahmoism. Sati was a trained vocalist and a niece of Bijoya Ray, the wife of Satyajit Ray. Ruma Guha Thakurta began as a dancer. Later, she went to Almora Academy of Uday Shankar at Lahore to study dance. She started training in music at Swarabitan in Kolkata, which had been established by her parents. In later years, she studied under Abdul Rehman Khan of Patiala gharana, the Ustad of Nirmla Devi and Lakshmi Shankar in Bombay.
