The Virgins
The Virgins were an American indie rock band formed in 2006 in New York City. The band split up in November 2013. History 2006–2007: Formation Frontman Donald Cumming began writing music by himself in his New York apartment. He then recruited friends to fill out the band. Almost immediately they made a five-song EP titled '' The Virgins '07'', compiled of the band's early recordings, and songs Donald had already recorded himself. Upon completion, Cumming passed out the EP to friends and DJs causing the music to pervade the New York club scene. Soon after, the demo came across Atlantic Records who signed Cumming before the band was fully formed. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Gus Oberg
Gus Oberg is a Swedish music producer and recording engineer. He is best known as the longtime engineer and a producer of American rock band The Strokes, for whom he has worked since 2009. Oberg is also a close collaborator of Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and has worked on every one of his solo records. Since the late 2000s, Oberg has produced numerous indie rock albums and has often worked with Hammond Jr. or Johnny T Yerington as a producing partner. Oberg was awarded a Grammy Award in 2006 for his engineering work. Career Oberg moved from his native Sweden to New York City in 1997 to pursue audio engineering. His career took off in the early 2000s as an engineer at New York's Loho Studio. ''The Virgins'' is the first full-length album by The Virgins. It was released June 3, 2008. Many songs on the album were originally from their EP, '' The Virgins '07''. "Private Affair" was chosen as the first single for the album. The song "Hey Hey Girl" was used in the trailer for the movie '' Miss March,'' while the song "Rich Girls" was used in the movie '' 17 Again'', in the trailer for ''She's Out of My League'', an episode of ''Castle (Ghosts) ''and in a Rugby Ralph Lauren fall 2010 promotional lifestyle film. Donald Cumming (born 1981) is an American actor, musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer of the New York City band The Virgins.
