Alice Strike
Alice Mary Strike (31 August 1896 – 22 December 2004) was the last surviving female Canadian military World War I, First World War veteran. She was so designated as she lived in Canada after the war, but had actually served in the United Kingdom, British armed forces. Canada did not allow females to serve in the military until the World War II, Second World War. Strike was born in Godalming, Surrey, England. In 1914, she enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps, RFC as a pay clerk (position), clerk. She married her first husband, a Canadians, Canadian man named James Stobie Sr., whom she met in Woking, England, during World War I, and later relocated to Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she had four children with him over forty years. After Stobie retired, they moved to Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and, after her husband had died, she met George Strike on the Queen Charlotte Islands in British Columbia. Anne Wafula Strike
Anne Wafula Strike MBE (born 8 May 1969) is a Harlow-based British Paralympic wheelchair racer. Wafula Strike was born in Mihuu in Bungoma, Kenya, and contracted polio at the age of two, resulting in a later Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital diagnosis of below T7 paralysis. Arriving in the UK in April 2000, she was introduced to wheelchair racing in 2002 and in 2004 became the first Kenyan wheelchair racer to represent her country, competing in the T53 400m finals at the Paralympics in Athens. Following a successful application for British citizenship in 2006, she became a member of Team GB and, after reclassification, now competes in the T54 racing category as a British athlete. A past winner of the BBC's 'My Story' competition, her autobiography ''In my Dreams I Dance'' was published by HarperCollins in 2010. ''Cormoran Strike'' is a series of crime fiction novels written by British author J. K. Rowling, published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Fred Strike
Frederick Ernest Strike (December 9, 1880 – January 30, 1967) was a Canadian amateur and professional ice hockey player from Montreal. He played with the Toronto Tecumsehs of the National Hockey Association in the 1912–13 season. Before his time in the NHA Strike played with the Calumet Miners in the IPHL for two seasons in 1904–1906. In the 1904–05 inaugural IPHL season he led the league with 44 goals as Calumet won the league title. Career Prior, in-between and after his pro stints in Calumet and Toronto, Strike spent most of his hockey career with various amateur teams in his hometown of Montreal, captaining the intermediate Montreal Hockey Club in 1902–03. Hilda Strike
Hilda Gwendolyn Strike (later ''Sisson'', September 1, 1910 – March 9, 1989) was a Canadian track athlete and Olympic medalist. She was born in Montreal and died in Ottawa. Competing in the 1932 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal in the 4×100 metre relay and a silver medal in the 100 metre losing to Stanisława Walasiewicz. At the end of the year, she was named Canada's outstanding female athlete of the year by The Canadian Press. In 1972, she was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.
