Strider (2014 Video Game)
''Strider'', known in Japan as , is a platform-adventure hack and slash video game developed by Double Helix Games and Capcom's Osaka studio. It was released in February 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It is a Video game remake, reboot of the 1989 video game ''Strider (1989 arcade game), Strider''. Gameplay The player control the series' main character, Strider Hiryu. The environment is freely explorable in search for weapons and items. Strider Hiryu's main weapon is his Cypher, a plasma weapon that can take several properties. Upgrades for the Cypher can be obtained by exploring Kazakh. Plot The Strider organization sends their best assassin, Hiryu, to kill the villain, Grandmaster Meio, in the metropolis of Kazakh City. Double Helix Games was an American video game developer based in Irvine, California, founded in October 2007 through the merger of The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, two studios owned by Foundation 9 Entertainment. Double Helix was acquired by Amazon and integrated into Amazon Game Studios in February 2014. History Double Helix Games was formed as the result of a merger between The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, two video game developers owned by Foundation 9 Entertainment. Shiny had been acquired by Foundation 9 in October 2006 under the terms that it would co-locate with the already owned The Collective. A platform game (often simplified as platformer and sometimes called a jump 'n' run game) is a sub-genre of action game, action video games in which the core objective is to move the player character between points in an environment. Hiroshi Motomiya (, born June 25, 1947) is a Japanese manga artist. He is from Chiba Prefecture. Moto Kikaku ''Moto Kikaku'' (formerly ''Motomiya Kikaku'') is a group of Japanese manga artists, founded by Hiroshi Motomiya. They're best known in the West for the ''Strider Hiryu'' manga (published by Kadokawa Shoten), which was developed as a tie-in to Capcom's video game hit '' Strider''. The group had input in '' Strider 2'''s character designs, and the original manga's plot was adapted as the plot of the NES version. However, ''Strider'' was not the only Moto Kikaku property to be adapted. ''Strider'', released in Japan as is a hack-and-slash platform game released in arcades in 1989 by Capcom. ''Strider'' is set in a dystopian future with a wide range of settings that affect gameplay. The game resulted from cooperation between Capcom and manga publisher Moto Kikaku. It marked the video game debut of Strider Hiryu, after the character was introduced in the 1988 manga ''Strider Hiryu''. The game debuted on Capcom's CP System arcade board.
