Darren Stride
Darren Stride (born 28 September 1975) is an English former professional association football footballer. Playing as a central defender or in other utility roles including centre forward, Stride captained the Burton Albion side for 12 years. Stride has recently completed his coaching qualifications and is looking to move into management. Career Stride had been part of the first team since progressing from the Burton youth team, and had subsequently become the club's record holder for most appearances. He had also played in every single position during his time at the club, including as an emergency goalkeeper. Stride was released at the end of the 2009–10 after 17 years with the club. He subsequently joined Alfreton Town on a one-year deal in August 2010. Stride captained Alfreton on his debut, a 1–0 win against Hinckley United. David Stride
David Stride (14 March 1958 – 10 July 2016) was an English professional footballer who played in both England and the United States. Career Stride began his career with Chelsea in 1978. That year, he went on loan with the Memphis Rogues of the North American Soccer League. In 1980, Chelsea sold Stride's contract to the Rogues. In 1981, Memphis sent him to the Minnesota Kicks. In the fall of 1981, he signed with the Cleveland Force of the Major Indoor Soccer League. In 1982, he moved to the Jacksonville Tea Men. Following the 1982 NASL season, Stride returned to England to play for Millwall and Leyton Orient. In 1985, he returned to the United States to play for the Dallas Sidekicks of Major Indoor Soccer League. Elizabeth Stride
Elizabeth "Long Liz" Stride ( Gustafsdotter; 27 November 1843 – 30 September 1888) is believed to have been the third victim of the unidentified serial killer known as Jack the Ripper, who killed and mutilated at least five women in the Whitechapel and Spitalfields districts of London from late August to early November 1888. Unlike the other four canonical Ripper victims, Stride had not been mutilated following her murder, leading some historians to suspect Stride had not actually been murdered by Jack the Ripper. However, Stride's murder occurred less than one hour before the murder of the Ripper's fourth canonical victim, Catherine Eddowes, within walking distance, and her act of murder is suspected to have been disturbed by an individual entering the crime scene upon a two-wheeled cart. John Stride
John Edward Stride (11 July 1936 – 20 April 2018) was an English actor best known for his television work in the 1970s. Stride was born in London, the son of Margaret (née Prescott) and Alfred Teneriffe Stride. He attended Alleyn's School, Dulwich, and trained at RADA, where he met his first wife, Virginia Stride (''née'' Thomas). He made his first, uncredited, screen appearance in the film, ''Sink the Bismarck!'' (1960). He also played the role of Bob, the barman, in the film '' Bitter Harvest'' (1963), based on the trilogy '' 20,000 Streets Under the Sky'' by Patrick Hamilton. Mel Stride
Melvyn John Stride (born 30 September 1961) is a British politician who has served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions since October 2022. He previously served in the May Government as Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster General from 2017 to 2019 and as Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council from May to July 2019. He also served as Chair of the Treasury Select Committee from 2019 to 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Devon since 2010. Steve Stride
Steven M. "Steve" Stride (born c. 1950) is the former Operations Director of Aston Villa Football Club. Career Stride joined the office staff at Aston Villa in 1972 and seven years later was appointed football secretary, a post he held for 16 years. He was elected to the board of directors in 1995, and two years later published a book, ''Stride inside the Villa'', chronicling his 25 years with the club. In 2005, he took responsibility for running the club while longtime chairman Doug Ellis recovered from heart bypass surgery.
