William Noel Stretch (born 17 March 1935) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Ballarat and arrived in Western Australia in 1954. He farmed at Mobrup before entering politics. Billy Stretch (born 8 September 1996) is a former professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A midfielder, Stretch plays predominantly on the wing. Stretch was recognised as a talented footballer from a young age when he represented and captained South Australia at under 14 level, and continued to represent the state until under 18 level. His accolades as a junior include six best and fairest awards, a league best player award, national representation and All-Australian selection. Charles Lennox Stretch
Charles Lennox Stretch MLC (6 May 1797 – 13 October 1882), known locally as "Xolilizwe" ("peacemaker"), was a humanitarian, philanthropist, and a prominent member of the Parliament of the Cape of Good Hope. Early life Stretch was born in Bristol, England, in an old Irish family. He joined the army and was sent to southern Africa in 1818 as a captain in the 38th regiment. He was soon joined here by his brother and three sisters, who also settled in the Cape. In 1819 he served in the defense of Grahamstown before taking work as engineer and Governor Land Surveyor for Graaff-Reinet in 1823. With Andrew Geddes Bain, he helped to build the Oudeberg Pass in 1829 and the Van Ryneveld's Pass road in 1832. In 1820 he married a local Cape-born woman, Anna Hart. Jack Stretch
John Francis Stretch (28 January 1855 – 19 April 1919) was an Australian Anglican bishop. Early life Stretch was born in Geelong, Victoria, the son of Reverend John Cliffe Theodore Stretch and his wife Frances (née Heath). He was educated at Geelong Church of England Grammar School. On 2 July 1872, he was the first student to enrol in Trinity College, Melbourne, which was the first residential college of the University of Melbourne. He graduated BA in 1874 and LLB in 1887. Religious life Ordained in 1878, he began his ordained ministry as a curate in Geelong. In 1892, Stretch became vicar of St Andrew's Church, Brighton, Melbourne having previously served as incumbent of Holy Trinity Church in Maldon and St Mark's Church in Fitzroy. Joe Stretch (born 7 January 1982) is an English writer and singer. His first novel, ''Friction'', was published by Vintage Books at Random House in 2008. His second novel, ''Wildlife'', was published in 2009. His visceral, savage writing style has led to comparisons with French novelist Michel Houellebecq. His third book, ''The Adult'', was released in August 2012. It won the Somerset Maugham Award and was shortlisted for the Portico Prize. Peter Stretch (October 14, 1670 – September 11, 1746) was among the most prominent early American clockmakers and among the first makers of scientific instruments in America. Steven Stretch (born 5 January 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and Fitzroy in the VFL/AFL and West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). A wingman, Stretch won the 1987 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Trophy for the Demon's best and fairest player. Stretch also played in 13 finals for the Demons including the 1988 VFL Grand Final.
