Streatham Station
Streatham railway station is a station in central Streatham in south London. Its main entrance now is on Streatham High Road, and is in Travelcard Zone 3. Services are provided by Southern and Thameslink. Thameslink services go north to St Albans via London Blackfriars and St Pancras, and south to Wimbledon and Sutton. Southern services run between London Bridge and West Croydon. A news kiosk in the street level ticket hall sells newspapers, coffee and snacks. There is no seating at this level. The platforms are below the station building and accessed by staircases. There has been no step-free disabled access to the northbound platform since the station forecourt on the up (northbound) platform side was redeveloped in the 1980s for the construction of a supermarket. There is step-free disabled access to the southbound platform via a footpath from Hopton Road (but not via the ticket hall). Ticket barriers were installed to the entrance in June 2009. Southern (Govia Thameslink Railway)
Southern is the brand name used by the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) train operating company on the Southern routes of the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise in England. It is a subsidiary of Govia, a joint venture between transport groups Go-Ahead and Keolis, and has operated the South Central rail franchise since August 2001 and the Gatwick Express service since June 2008. When the franchise was subsumed into GTR, Southern was split from Gatwick Express and the two became separate brands, alongside the Thameslink and Great Northern brands. Southern operates the majority of commuter services from its Central London terminals at London Bridge and London Victoria to South London, East and West Sussex, as well as regional services in parts of Hampshire, Kent and Surrey. Sutton & Mole Valley Lines
The Sutton and Mole Valley lines were constructed between 1847 and 1868 by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, the London and South Western Railway and the LBSCR-sponsored Horsham, Dorking and Leatherhead Railway. Services Services include commuter services in South London, Surrey and West Sussex operated by Southern, usually from London Victoria to Horsham via Sutton and Dorking. Some Southern services in peak hours from call at and diverge at Leatherhead and serve Effingham Junction and Guildford via the New Guildford Line. The South Western Railway services are operated by Class 455/7s, 455/8s and 455/9s. The Southern services use the same type of train, but sometimes instead. London Buses Route 159
London Buses route 159 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Streatham station and Oxford Circus Underground station, it is operated by Abellio London. History When introduced, the route was operated by STL-class double-deckers. In 1951, RTs and RTLs replaced the STLs. During 1960s, 1970s and beginnings of 1980s, the 159 route went between West End Green (West Hampstead) and Thornton Heath. In June 1970, the RTs were replaced by AEC Routemasters. During the 1990s, London Buses' South London Transport subsidiary operated the route with Routemasters in a unique red and cream livery which was retained after South London was privatised and acquired by the Cowie Group in January 1995. London Buses route 133 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England, running between Streatham and Liverpool Street stations. History Route 133 commenced operating on 27 March 1929 from South Croydon to Liverpool Street station. On 24 July 1971, the route was withdrawn between Croydon and Streatham with one man operation introduced with Daimler Fleetlines. Upon being put out to tender, it was taken over by London General's Stockwell Garage on 6 January 1990 with Northern Counties bodied Volvo Citybuses. Upon being re-tendered, route 133 was taken over by Arriva London's Norwood garage on 22 January 2010. London Buses route 109 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Croydon and Brixton, it is operated by Abellio London. History Route 109 commenced operating on 8 April 1951 as a circular Purley - West Croydon station - Streatham - Elephant & Castle - Victoria Embankment - Westminster - Kennington - Norbury - Croydon - Purley route operating in both directions. London Buses Route 60
London Buses route 60 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Old Coulsdon and Streatham, it is operated by Arriva London. History Route 60 was introduced in September 1982 as a replacement in part for routes 118 and 130, linking Clapham Common with Croydon. In 1998, the route was extended south to Old Coulsdon, replacing route 50 and curtailed northbound to Streatham. Capital Logistics was due to start operating route 60 from September 1998, however the new low floor buses specified were not ready in time. Stagecoach Selkent had lost work at the same time and was able to step in to operate most of the service. Blue Triangle of Rainham was subcontracted to provide the balance of four buses.
