Stranger To Stranger (Industry Album)
''Stranger to Stranger'' is the first and only album by American new wave band Industry released on Capitol Records and distributed by EMI in 1983. A Philippine CD version was later released and included an extended version of "Still of the Night". The album features the most successful track " State of the Nation", an anti-war song that broke into European charts. It was a minor hit in the U.S., peaking at #81 at the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. However, it was a bigger hit in Europe and peaked at number ten in Sweden. The album peaked at #48 in Sweden. After this album, Jon Carin started a successful solo and session musician career, becoming a permanent member of the Pink Floyd live band and co-writing Pink Floyd's hit single " Learning to Fly". Unger and Perrone went on to form their own bands. Industry (American Band)
Industry was an American new wave band formed in 1978 in New York City as Industrial Complex, their name later changing to Industry. In 1981, the band became commercial but disbanded three years later. Their only well known album was ''Stranger to Stranger'', released in 1984 which included the hit single, " State of the Nation". Due to some pop ballads on their 1984 album, the band has been dubbed as "The American Spandau Ballet". Jon Carin
Jon Carin (born October 21, 1964) is a musician, singer, songwriter and producer who has been a longtime collaborator with the bands Pink Floyd and The Who, and the solo careers of David Gilmour and Roger Waters, Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder, Kate Bush, and Richard Butler. Biography As a teenager, Jon Carin started his professional musical career with the band Industry as their lead singer, keyboardist and songwriter. During his time with the band, they had a hit single with " State of the Nation" in 1984, being followed by the album ''Stranger to Stranger''. In 1985, he was asked by Industry's producer, Rhett Davies, to work with Bryan Ferry for his '' Boys and Girls'' album. Life and career The 1960s In the 1960s, Poncia formed a songwriting team with Peter Anders (née Peter Andreoli). An album of songs co-written by these childhood friends, ''The Anders & Poncia Album'', was produced by Richard Perry and released in 1969.
