VK Novi Beograd ( sr-cyr, ВК Нови Београд) is a professional water polo club based in New Belgrade, Serbia. As of 2021–22 season, the club competes in the Serbian League, Regional League A1 and LEN Champions League. History The club was founded in 2015. In 2020–21 season, the club made its debut in top-tier Serbian Water Polo League A, where they finished as runners-up. Also, they made the semi-finals of the Serbian Water Polo Cup. In second-tier European competition LEN Euro Cup, Novi Beograd made it to the eight-finals. In 2021–22 season, the club significantly improved its roster, and made debut in the Regional League and LEN Champions League. The Regional Water Polo League (abbr. RWP), commonly known as the Regional League or Adriatic League, is a regional water polo league in Southeast Europe. Originally, the league featured clubs from Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia. In later years, clubs from Serbia joined the league and in one season club from Italy participated in the league. History The league was established in 2008 as the "Adriatic Water Polo League" and the inaugural 2008–09 season consisted of clubs from Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. Copa del Rey de Water polo is the second most important competition of water polo played in Spain. Inaugural edition was played in 1986. The Spanish water polo championship has been contested since 1912. The current league format was introduced in 1965. The top division is currently known as the División de Honor and consists of twelve clubs. The current champions (2021–22 season) are CN Atlètic-Barceloneta from Barcelona. Competition Format The División de Honor season takes place between October and May, with every team playing each other home and away for a total of 22 matches. Points are awarded according to the following: *3 points for a win *1 points for a draw The team with the highest number of points at the end of 22 rounds of matches become champions.
